Here's some stuff I Zero 7'd. Reposted in its own hole because I was jacking EL's spot thread.

Finally caught this magnificent beast at rest in the centre of Heald Green.

It's in regular use, along with a minty 164 Volvo that an old couple potter around in.

You should see the lass that drives it, she's fit as fuck.It proves my first law of lady \ car interfacing.'The fitness of the lady is inversely proportional to the mechanical or bodily condition of the car she drives' (Burgess: 2001: banger race)Hence at Uni - lots of bloody lovely womens driving knackered shite.I never managed to pull with my bottle green non turbo 306. Never understood why. :(

More tat!

This early 944 wins the prize for the closest shite spot ever - less than 20 yards from my house. Apologies for the shots, it was overcast and my phone camera hates red.

Hey up Watanabe, that marina used to have a red one and a biege estate as companions as I recall. Also if you head back up the road to Styal Rd lights and do a left there used to be a Consul Classic parked up in an apparently unused farm yard. Where did you spot that Riley? it looks familiar. Damn fine spotting you must be fairly local to me.

I seem to remember the other BL bilge with the blue one when I started working in Heald Green. The 4 \ 72 I'm not sure about. When I took that picture I was heading to Sudbury to buy the Piazza. I've also seen the same car on the M6 and the M42 (when I went to get my Amazon back), and once in the opposite lane of the M1.It really is mint as, but seems to get used as well.If you're in Stockport you're pretty local aye - I work very near Heald Green and only live in Alti.

Have a mega pic dump on the house. Lots of LOCAL chod here there and everywhere.

Firstly this late 246 Dino that pulled in at the filling station near Dunham:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Stunning down to the flared wheels arches and Cromadora alloys.

Had a haircut in Altrincham and parked next to a stunning Mk 2 Jaguar, virtually concours :

Posted Image

Bet he was THRILLED I parked up next to him.

Fred the weatherman lives near me, think this Messerschmitt KR200 was his:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

An SP250 spotted in a yard on the A49 when I went to deliver a job application:

Posted Image

It shares space with a Nissan S Cargo, a 280 Brooklands Capri, a very nice P4 Rover and a mint Lhasa Green Mk 1 Golf GTI. Eclectic if nowt else.

This was in the parking bay of a Ford garage with appropriate retro signage just in front of said yard.

Posted Image

As well as this Minder spec Jag:

Posted Image

Next we come to road very close to where I work where almost every house has an interesting find full of chod.

First this bloke:

Posted Image

I think he likes Land Rovers. Witness:

Posted Image

FC 101,

Posted Image

And a rather nice Lightweight.

Next door, we have a bloke who likes fast tat. A MG Maestro Turbo (dead) and an Evo 5 or 6 (crashed)

Posted Image

Next door to that is a garage with what looked like an original Mk 1 Escort Mexico covered in dust. Only ever seen the door open once and I didn't have my phone on me. Nest egg?

Posted Image

Finally spotted this (Q plated) SD 1 as I pulled on to junction 7 off the Lymm roundabout. Any reason why it was Q plated?

Posted

Not an FC101 - that's a Series II (or IIA, I'm no expert) Forward Control. Where's Mr Scruff when we need him?!

Arsebiscuits. I know nothing about Land Rovers other than they cost a sodding fortune to run.

To be honest, I know not a lot more. Oh, they're quite heavy. There you go!Nice selection of spots though. Some tasty motors (well, to us lot!).

Posted

Any idea how much the Mk3 Escort is/was??

Posted

I reckon it's a 2b 110"......all down to the headlamp and sidelamp positioning.

Some more toss updates from myself.

Went to France for a family holiday but got struck down with a bowel infection and spent two nights in a hospital in Bruges. My grasp of Flemish is now pretty good.

Sadly because of my chronic need to pebbledash a bog with green poo meant my my driving ambitions went out of the window. I let fatha wat do most of the transportation duties, going along in his 525 d estate which is literally the hardest riding car EVER especially when you can't put much pressure on your gut.

We were staying at my aunt's place in Mienval, but we took in lots of places in the three days we had left - Rouen, Honfleur and finally Arromanche where a lot of the D Day landings took place.

Posted Image

Lovely Isetta being trailered onto the boat at Hull. Fatha wat took this picture because I was curled over my car feeling shite.

Posted Image

Got really sick of the miserable old git I was sharing my room with who complained of being cold when I was running a high fever. As soon as I had the strength to walk about (late day 2), after getting through 9 big IV salt drips, I went for a wander.....with an IV pole that had knackered castors and nearly tore the drip out of my arm when it dug into the carpet......fucking ow.

In Honfleur now.....Mehari that was for sale.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Honfleur again..... nice cabrio 2CV. Thought Ian might like this.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Minty Traveller.....again in Honfleur.

Posted Image

Posted Image

601 Trabbie being used to advertise a Honfleur grille.....

Posted Image

Nice condition 9 on a Honfleur roundabout.

Posted Image

Traction Avant on its way to Arromanche. We were there a few days before the official commemoration.

The irony of it is that the landing beach in the blazing sunshine is absolutely beautiful. It's so far removed from the hell of the landings you read about I can't even begin to imagine it.

The museum is also well worth a visit.

Posted Image

Jeeps were all over the place, and hammering up and down the beach.

We also drank to my grandad who passed way on June 4 last year. At least he got sent to Malta rather than Gold beach.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted

nice pics! how much was the Mehari? they seem to fetch strong money. The Renault 9 is actually a 11!

Posted

Those shots of the Jeep are great.!Marginally interesting D-Day vehicle fact: most of the amphibious tanks were lost in the channel so the Americans used bulldozers to clear a path and form mobile shields

Posted

Honfleur again..... nice cabrio 2CV. Thought Ian might like this.

Posted Image

This looks great, very DS-ish from the back. The only downside is the paint colour which I can only describe as metallic piss yellow.

I reckon it's that Peugeot 'Blaze Yellow' they had on the 106 and 306 a few years back. It's a top conversion but I think the doors are sagging a bit - check the fit at the top.

More toss spots.

Early spitfire:

Posted Image

Then, conveniently, to illustrate to how massive cars have become, an Aygo pulled up alongside.....

Posted Image

And dwarfed it.

Next.....

Posted Image

ANOTHER BLEEDING PIAZZA LESS THAN TEN MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE!

Shitting Nora, I didn't know this was still in the area. Blokey tried to sell it a while ago. It was this car that pulled up outside my nursery when I was three. I remember the reg. It would have been new or nearly new then.........

From what I remember, it's almost mint. And mine.............isn't.

Posted

Always liked the Piazza, looked at one in '89 when I was young and foolish, and debt free.....sat in it played the introduction casette and the battery went flat....

Ah, the dealer will have done the 'crap battery' trick on you. Mine has an 063 instead of an 088, and that'll be why you have no pOwerz. People can't be arsed finding an 088.....cos there aren't any in Halfords, and just bosh whatever crap they can find off the shelf.Previous owner did smoke his body weight in green on an almost daily basis though. Weirdly, he had a kit of OEM parts including 5 factory spec oil filters......which he gave to me in a box which hummed a bit. They were still being imported then, there's a few running around on G and H plates. Was it a HBL?

nice pics! how much was the Mehari? they seem to fetch strong money. The Renault 9 is actually a 11!

I think the Mehari 'a vendre' was 2000 Euro. And I always get mixed up between the 9 and 11. This was the model in 'A View To A Kill' wasn't it?
Posted

Oops. Not paying attention. Gut problems sound like a real pain in the arse (groan...). Glad you're better! Not taken much by the 2CV but that Mehari is lovely. Other spots are top too.

I went on holiday at the start of August to Normandy again, with Uni friends.

I saw some excellent rammle, including a Ford Comete \ Simca Vedette that I didn't get a shot of. If you're interested, it's somewhere on the D297 near Etauvy.

Anyway.......
