Looks nice the A2, something I should try convincing Ma_Sterling to get. She is looking at a replacement for the K11, though the K11 will be staying, thankfully, might make a good replacement car for when the crocks of shite I drive end up breaking down or being crashed into.

The 75 V8 is deffo a dream car for me, along with the W140. Good luck in buying something you like!

I still don't think there are any small cars built of Aluminium. I think in 2001 they seemed to be well ahead of the curve with the low weight and high fuel economy.

I like A2' s and have tried to get various offspring into one to no avail- " but dad,it's an Audi ! " I suppose I've only got myself to blame, learnt behaviour and all that.

Anyway, they seem to have Shite credentials, followed one through a drive through yesterday and the driver had to get out because the window wouldn't open- " just like my Rover" pipes up daughter no.2.

On Tuesday gone one of the lads i work with got his Focus ST,stage 2 re-maped a de-cat down pipe,a loud exhaust and some other stuff.it has gone from around 220ish bhp to 302 bhp.

He is very happy, his clutch has started to slip though.

That's a lot of power for front wheel drive. The st has a dmf as well so I bet that clutch business could get expensive.

I really rate them st's my cousin had a highly modified one for a bit, was bleeding rapid. They make a lovely sound as well.

It isn't a good example is was when he got it 2ish years ago.He don't/hasn't looked after it.He has around a 3 mile round trip to work, this he does very quickly. It has been hit by a bin lorry.

His GF puts hay bails and horse feed in it. I think the clutch had started to go as he likes full throttle gear changes.

Shame nice car.

I guess by the nature of the car they all get quite a hard life. The one I posted looks original but you never know.

Modern steel small cars' weights are getting close to the feather weight of the A2, I think base model Peugeot 208s are around 900-1000kg.

That makes sense I guess. Designing them to be light rather than building them out of aluminium is much cheaper . I read the a2 had to be laser welded because aluminium is so much of a pain .

Saying that for ford have decided to built the f150 out of aluminium and I'm not 100% sure why .

I still want an A2. Progress with new job is plodding on so at some point they'll want my company Astra back.

I have been puzzling over this as well, they talk about 700lb weight savings but they aren't much lighter than the new Silverado once you add some common options.   It has the new v6 turbo that gets about the same economy as the Silverado V8 so again what's the point?   It does allow them to claim 'best in class towing'** which is a thing apparently.

It all seems like a lot of effort for not much gain.

I haven't seen that many around but they have been ramping up production slowly so sales are lower than usual.

Article about it here :http://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2015/09/02/ford-pickup-august-sales/71513248/ which has the startling statistic that 90% of Ford's auto profits are from F150.

Did you know the F150 is so popular due to chickens?

Yep, they even import Transit Connects with seats and windows then remove them before sale.   And then they destroy all the seats - lunacy.

I like the A2 because Audi was actually doing something worthy of its heritage. Then it realised people weren't arsed about innovation and just wanted an A3 on easy finance payments.
