My mate snapped these two outside the Dorchester Hotel this morning. Future AS motors!

They've been there for a while - drove past a few weeks ago and they were there then. Wonder if the Dorchester has discounted rooms for long-term residents.

Yes, the future is beige.

I should despise these with a passion, but I find something oddly alluring about the angular lines..............

Given old Jag interiors are hearing aid beige or wheelchair grey I had a 50/50 chance of being the future. And lost.

Same here. I should hate them by default, because post 1986, but they somehow managed to find their way into my heart.

They are oddly not as soulless as all the other modern shit.

We nearly bought a Soul, but the interior was junk - proper scratchy plastics. The only "redeeming" feature was the setting that flashed the lights in the speaker grilles in time to the music. Good driving position though and I too like the looks.

Just looks like President Asad's carpool to me.

Drove one across the Atacama desert a few years ago.

It was fine once I put some proper petrol in it.

What like all over the seats? followed by a match?

That G wagen is gorgeous but will never be in Autoshite price territory Im sure....

I also have a soft spot for these. They look a bit like a small Land Rover product to me. Maybe even a shrunken Discovery?

Defiantly different from the usual Mk 3 Transit shaped competition. Which is no bad thing.

That said I've never even sat in one, let alone driven one. They might be a load of old toss, for all I know.

As for the beige motors outside The Dorchester, am I right in thinking the G Wagen would likely be the more expensive of the pair?

I spotted one of those new small Jeep things (Renegade?) in beige this morning.  Proper old-school hearing aid beige too, not one of these half-arsed modern "dark cream" efforts.  I actually thought it quite suited it - but then the Renegade is a hideous-looking car to start with.

I did that over 20 years ago in a hired Renault 4, with working radio, but broken fan.

It was the model past the flap underneath the windscreen, so there was no interior ventilation.

And there was no radio signal either. A typical lose/lose situation.

However, the R4 was painted - you guessed it - futuristic beige.
