Trabbie, MZ, Wartie, IFA, it's all the same. Part # is 8101.7
Any 6V 220W regulator will work. If it is not a 6V 220W regulator, you'll smoke your dynamo.

Citroen Ami 6 and Ford Pop are also 6V. I wouldn't have thought anything over 220W would hurt it to be honest. The Dynamo can only put out what it can put out. Lower than 220W you probably risk killing the regulator by overloading it though.

 

Could well be wrong on this, however...

No guarentee it still works like. I'd fit a generic solid state one if it was me mind. This looks like a good choice:

i have one of those in my watch list as well as the trabbi proper one

 

went to local been there 40 years elec shops where they fix anything and the boss said who makes the dynamo

 

we couldnt find out

 

got a place to try tomorrow as they werent open when i passed them today

 

the post ones are simple id like to be able to rock up and buy one

If it's the original dynamo it will be Ruhla the East German state owned company that made all DDR auto-electrics as far as I am aware.
