Sorry I didn't make it...got stuck in the office until late then shitty traffic all the way down the A3 :(

Well it was good to meet and greet some fellow shiters for an exciting evening of fun for free, I'm sure that DoobieTwo will follow up with some hot photo action but here were my favourites. Doobie and Slappy jump in if there is anything I've missed!

First lot, a 2005 Chevvy Tacuma with a missing hubcap and 72k miles. A happy buyer walked off with this prize for one hundred english pounds

Next up, a Kia Rio of 2004 vintage. 111k with MOT to the year of our lord 2016. £200.

A leggy Astra SRI with almost a year of MOT was a steal at £250

A t-reg Mazda 323 1.5 5 door made a tasty £325

Much to the sadness of all involved, not one person wanted the star of the show, a 2005 Microcar MC1. £325 could have taken this tax free powerhouse.

A 206 with a borked folding hardtop made a paltry £400

£275 could have won you a 1.9d Renner Kangoo van

The best value of the night for me was a seemingly rust-free C180 saloon from 1996 with under 100k on the clocks with a badermatic and some* history with ticket through to summer 2016 made just £350. mega bargain if you ask me.

One for Billy, a 1998 Vectra with 160k and 3 weeks of of MOT failed to even garner a bid at £100 earth pounds

My guess at the lowest sale price of the night was a 2001 ford cougar, it looked better than I thought it would and made £335. It had a towbar too for some hot coupe caravan action

A very well presented 2001 Rover 45 with the 1.8 kettle made £180 and looked a right bargain.

The other notable lot was a 2001 renner migraine cabrio with a carpet roof which even worked made just £325. Probably the wrong time of year to sell one but seemed a bargain at that price.

Sadly none of us were buying tonight, but I for one had fun and we'll look to arrange another excursion there next month.

Doobie - over to you, Pics to follow!

Apologies for my no-show - Mrs Rocker needed an urgent physio session for her sciatica.  I knew there was something I was meant to be doing instead of sitting in a car park waiting and waiting.....Hope to be there next month - I would have been all over that C180!

It had your name written all over it, to be honest if I'd have had a few hundred in the bank I'd have had it myself - it was a very tidy machine.

Mention was made of making it a monthly occurrance which'd be good. We'll see about sorting another date out and I'll message SIAB about the AS car auction survival kit.

I will probably be going the winter shiter route this year, not fair on the 50 and 60 year old Morrises to continue exposing them to salty roads and a wet dockside at work.  Same goes for the T25 - all going indoors for the poo months.   Therefore an auction visit much in my interest!

If you went along with £300 in you pocket you'd have had the choice of at least 6 vehicles with enough change to get some fuel to get you home, even after buyers fees. Either of the £100 motors would have gotten a family to London or Birmingham or somewhere without drama I'd suspect, significantly less than doing the trip on public transport.

amazing really!

pics added apologies for the quality.....

I chose the Vectra as my "car of the day" 8)

All in all a great nights entertainment... Hopefully this will become a regular outing and we will see more peeps joining us in future.

what are the fees like?

fly drive ftw:)

Forgot to look .... but I am sure we could find out ... Fly into Southampton airport just up the road.... use the Doobietoo taxi and B&B service and back the next day "Simples"

Posted

My call for lowest price was the red Rio, so I wasn't too far off. I was doing the typical first time viewer thing of making sure that I wasn't making any movements that would indicate a bid, whilst sipping a pop. Pleasantly pleased that  VAG stuff seemed to be treated like all the other dross.

Definitely up for it being a monthly thing.

No idea on the purchase fees etc, but they claim "We pride ourselves and believe we have the cheapest buyers premium and commissions anywhere in the country.". So it could be worth jumping on a plane for. Southampton airport is only a couple of miles away ;-)

Posted

Hope to join you sometime but work away from home a lot then when I am home sprogs to look after.  Well, one day.  Look like some real bargains though.

Posted

I think the fees are tiered depending on the hammer price, but I'm fairly sure that sub-£500 cars (i.e. 60% of what they do) command a £66 buyers premium, I think the next tier is up to £1500 hammer pricen and its about £120. I didn't pay attention to the next tier.

Selling is £30 entry fee for up to 3 consecutive auctions, and shite valued below £1500 has no reserve apparently.

does that 66 include indemnity?

I'd def be buying from the shanner sub 5ton sections

I believe it does, at least against it being stolen, having outstanding finance or anything else that would mean reposession of the car you've just bought would be imminent. Also they do declare insurance write-offs in the listings so you can't claim you weren't told.

Bizarrely there were several cat c's and a d which made more money than a lot of the otherwise un-written-off stuff.

Is there appetite for another outing people? Doobietoo, have you recovered from the Messy Burger* yet?

Whats the 1st October was like for people? 6.30pm to get a chance to peruse the treats in stock before bidding commences? Thats 2 weeks today. I wonder if the microcar will have sold by then?

Posted

I would do 1st oct, but its ra burds burfdai.

It looks like I will be free....Mind you I thought that last time till missus crooked her hip in.   If she's mended I'll be there.

Didn't spot the last updates, and feeling like a dodgy burger.

Anyone have plans for another go next Thursday, the 15th?

Posted

Ah good call - I've been run ragged with work and general 'life' recently but been meaning to get something else sorted.

15th works well for me, about 6.30 ish again?

Posted

Bugger, I am on lates.  However I may take a mealbreak* to coincide

Posted

I'm potentially up for this, although I need to check calendar with She Who Must Be Obeyed

Posted

I am now in posession of the patented AutoShite Auction Game, having negotiated an expensive 11.733257 year licencing arrangement with Sloth in a Bowl.

I'll bring a few copies along with me, PM me if you want a copy in advance!

Mercrocker and Doobie - are you in? Anyone else?

Posted

If I can slip along during a lull in work proceedings I may be there....

Posted

Are we on for this on thursday? has anyone heard from DoobieToo since the last one or he still in intensive care after the messy burger last time?

Posted

Oh bugger

Just realised I've double booked myself on the Friday for a mate's birthday.

Sounds like next Monday or Thursday would be better for everyone in any case (I hope)

Posted

No probs, how is next week for everyone? Monday or thursday?
