Almost 10 years ago in fact.  Great to see that it's still around and in use in the same battered state after all this time.

yep - my daily - well in theory "winter" car to save my golf from salt and rust...that was in aldi car park last night - best car i've ever had - 100% reliable - 45mpg(old school turbo diesel!) and built like a tank - also when bits do break even i with my limited skills and toolkit can keep it on the road! pictures flatter it though - it's VERY grubby outside - hasn't been washed in six years! on th upside you seldom get road rage or tailgaters as they stay well away!

Glorious, you see plenty of petrol ones about but few diesels.

I have a surplus of waste vegetable oil and I'm local if you'd like to try it in your 80, it's certainly a suitable engine.

always wanted to try and see if it would run on veg - would prob be ok - and as for the boot i removed the cover in the floor so any water that gets in gets out! in the 10 years since it was smashed i've never had any problems with water gathering in the boot - helps that the passenger compartment in these is almost totally separate from the boot so the cabin is always nice and dry...most people think it would fill up any time it rains!
