Name That Sunroof

This entire sunroof system was transplanted into my 633 from another car, probably by the supplying dealer.

I now need to replace the cables but have no idea what car they are from!

Electric, from the 70's, made by GOLDE and probably German.

Large* cash prize for the winner.

I think that most of us shiters never touch the sunroof for fear of getting it stuck half open in pouring rain. I would imagine that converting it to hydraulic rams would be easier than trying to get parts but you never know.

Mercedes?

Looks similar to the one in my old 230E.

Measure up the panel but it reminds me of the one in my Mk2 Granada.....

I thought that too - I had a 280CE that (as far as I remember) looked like that.

Aircooled VW scene people get excited by Golde sunroofs.

Argh. I had a 60's Beetle with one of those.

I asked a question about sunroofs last year and apparently the answer is gaffer tape.

This happened to me. Mk2 cavalier. Managed to strip and rebuild the winder gears using only the GM double ended screwdriver and the wheelbrace.

Try that with your insignia.

Slightly off topic....

When I bought the above mentioned Merc, it didn't have a sunroof, just a shiny blue solid roof. However, I later realised that it had a sunroof headlining and a switch for a power sunroof, so I looked closely...

A previous owner had filled over the sunroof and re-sprayed (very well) the entire roof!

I dug it out equally carefully to reveal a perfect sunroof with knackered seals. I bought al new ones from MB at bloody VAST expense and away we went, perfect, never leaked, slid back or up as expected after a tweak to the motor (hammer) and a thorough lubing up.
