I'm just shocked that Hemel is right near Massive Wang.

Odd???

I saw an aerial view of the site and it was completely rammed.....amazing really and good to know messing with cars is alive and kicking even if it is not always to everybody's taste... As a reformed VW addict I enjoyed the pics :)

It seemed quiet this year. Two years ago you couldn't get a sparrow's foreskin between tents, we rocked up late with a 20' square 12-man tent and struggled to find anywhere. They also sold out of tickets on the gate, I think I remember someone saying that place has a capacity of 50,000 - although under 13s don't need tickets, and aren't counted so each adult in theory could turn up with three children max and massive tents. That was the reason we only did a day visit last year, it was too cramped and it suffered as a result. Also, there was a group of about 10 "yoofs" who were hell bent on causing trouble - they were chucking rocks at each other and hit a few cars, they broke into someone's camper and stole food to have a food fight etc. Ended up with police, and discovering they only had one ticket between them and they'd been coming through the gate, passing it back somehow, using it for the next person.

Anyway, this year - way better. Everyone had wristbands, and security were asking to see them every time you entered/left camping. Quiet camping was deathly silent after 10pm (although the newbies opposite woke at 7pm on Sunday, decided as it had rained there would be no racing, noisily lobbed the tent down and went home - I was watching the racing until 4pm). Security was MASSIVE, loads of patrols around camping plus watch towers. Numbers seemed lower but they'd also made more camping around the back, behind the pits. Really good event I thought and a world away from when I started 10 years ago and from 2pm on Friday you needed wellies to go in the bogs.

Anyway. Have MOAR PICS.

This chap in Sportman ET apparently bought the car for £100 (SP/ET is a class where you can race anything, it's all done to dial-in times so consistency is king). On his first outing he then won the prize for perfect reaction time, which was £100. Free racing!

This was in the Rust and Rat show but was much, much cleaner than my old daily driver.

The RWYB was really quiet, I'd have taken the Floppyswede up if I hadn't had been in a rush to get there Friday and decided to leave filling up the tank until going home. Thought heading out onto the track with a range of 25 miles and the fuel light on was a bit silly. This guy had obviously filled his steed between leaving Scotland and arriving at the start line.

Proper. Quick.

Running insane times all weekend, no drama just hooks up and f*cks off. Apparently totally rebuilt after a "turn right" incident last year, it's a 20V Turbo with 4WD. And 750BHP on the dyno. Yeah - it'll run 8s....

Any pictures of the Irn Bru Bug racing or otherwise?

I mentioned to Fi that I'd come across (ahem) one of her colleagues on a forum.. she asked who and my mind drew a total blank.  She's getting better every event.

Good grief that Scirrooccoo a bit sprightly off the line.

Believe it or not, he planted it into the wall at the top end a few meetings ago.

At nigh on 180mph too. (front slick popped by the looks of things)

I'm glad he can build a car, he's a lovely bloke, and determined racer.

I didn't realize Bug Jam was still going. I went to a couple of them wayyyy back (think it was '89 and '90). I seem to remember not being prepared for the event, sleeping in a my Beetle, running out of cash and only being able to afford to buy do-nuts to eat.

Yes one or two. Not a fan of forced but really like seeing rusty old heaps running around....
