It's called the Garbage Run (edit: wrote before clicking the link), it wasn't Volvo only but there was a fuck load of them. I spoke to one of the guys when they were passing through here and they said there were 500 cars all purchased for 500 Euro each and it wasn't even for charity, just for fun. Will upload a load of pics of some of them soon.

Edit: FOTOS!

I would like to suggest that we christen this the Dollywoblermobile.

At least they fessed up to the fact it was a pretty mediocre effort so just did it for laughs, not Charidee.

I wouldn't call it mediocre, not everyone has the time to do any of these huge rallies like the 20,000 mile round trip to Mongolia and back so something smaller like this that can be done in a few days is pretty attractive. Also fun is a good enough excuse for me!

I saw this in Glossop, as I mentioned in the News 24. While there were a hell of a lot of 740s and V70s, that was only about half the cars. €500 can't have been right for some though, I distinctly remember an Audi S8.

Highlights:

early B2 Audi 80

W116 S-Class

E23 7 series

a Jeep CJ on offroad wheels and raised suspension

a UK registered W220 S-Class

a few Chevrolet G-Series vans

an early '80s Chevrolet Caprice police car

an early '90s Buick

three cars covered in fuzzy blue carpet including an E34 5 Series Touring

a Mr Bean spec Mini (trailing pretty far behind)

Mk3 Escort Cabrio

Lada Niva!

I saw these in Colne on Thursday. Quite a few none Volvos although probably more Volvos than anything else.

There were a good number of 5 series estates, a Skoda Estelle and early 80's Audi 80 amongst many others. Some were quite well done - the Olaf the Snowman sat on top of a Volvo was pretty impressive, others looked a bit shonky.

I think there was some charity element though - at least a couple of the cars had stickers suggesting they were raising money for a cancer charity.

I quite fancy doing one of these though. I know some are a bit shit but it'd still be fun. Might have to organise something for next year...

Yeah, but I wouldn't sponsor someone to hop on a ferry like they're doing a booze run. So to do it for fun is quite honest, I like that. I don't like the charity ones where they've covered less distance than cms206 going to the ScotShite meet just for an egg on something.
