Uncle Jimmy Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 These have fascinated me for a while; I'd love to have one. I'm sure I would be mercilessly mocked but despite their one flaws I like em. Sloth in a bowl, danthecapriman, garethj and 3 others 6
warren t claim Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I've lusted after a Fiero Mera Ferrari copy for quite some time.
hauserplenty Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 A Pontiac Fiasco. Haven't seen one of those in a while.A long while...There must be a reason??Buy it. They're great cars. I would if I had the money.&c.Probably OK in your country, but in CA the cooling systems used to fail. I can't remember much else, because its been at least 10 years since I've seen one in the metal.GM weren't afraid to take risks back then, it seems...
John F Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 One of the better looking yank cars IMO. Didn't some early ones spontaneously combust?
Asimo Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 The only mid-engine car with a pushrod V6 and automatic, so yes, do, ' cause I might too. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/pontiac/fiero/1988-pontiac-fiero-gt--mid-engine-2-8-litre-v6-auto/3287810
2MB Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I saw one parked outside a takeaway near my house last week. Too shocked to take a photo in time. They're quite possibly shit as sports cars but they're better to look at than whatever Ferrari so many people tried to turn them into. Like a beefy X1/9, which can only be a good thing.
Uncle Jimmy Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 One of the better looking yank cars IMO. Didn't some early ones spontaneously combust?A small number- sump was relatively small and drivers were pushing the 4cyl engine harder than it was designed for so they threw rods, leading to oil fires. The Fiero was handicapped by its 2.5 4 pot 'Iron Duke' engine; a misguided attempt to build an economy engine by GM. All rather reminiscent of Leyland behaviour....
Uncle Jimmy Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 I wonder if anyone has put a Fiat twin cam in one, that's at least the kind of engine they should have had; without the rusty body.
Uncle Jimmy Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 The Iron Duke and it's predecessor the '2300' which powered the awesome Chevy Vega are both a laugh. Here's a piccy of GMs car train.... D Spares & Tyres 1
Asimo Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Good potted history of the Fiero here http://ateupwithmotor.com/model-histories/pontiac-fiero/
