Bren Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I know the modern hose clips are a PITA to remove but I cannot help but think they do a better job than a jubilee clip. I was thinking about using some of them on my SD1 - I have just ordered a new top hose because the current one dribbles when the engine is running - even a secondhand one did the same. Looking at the way the hose has deformed under the clip I think it's fair to assume that the rubber they use is shit. Plus, there seem to be some truly shite clips out there - aldi springs to mind - made from bacofoil and strip with little force.

New POD Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Modern SPRING steel hose clips are used because the cost of fitting them in the factory is seconds, and made correctly there is some consistency over the clamping force, plus it's only one part and no screw thread. I would think that a proper engineering supplier, could supply some stainless, high spec clips, made to retain high pressure for a reasonable sum of money.
Asimo Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Yes, good Stainless Steel clips are the way to go, I wouldn't bother with anything else.
