Recommendations for towing decrepit shite around

Hi all

As there's seasoned collectioners aplenty here, I wondered what your suggestions for dragging my various ahem, vehicular projects to the new Chodweaver abode are? Ebay is awash with new towing bar items for any price you fancy and some look sturdy but rudimentary, while the commercial hilka item gets a sledging for the damper being a weak point. I'd like to go for a dolly instead for solo fun but everyone I've talked to that used one had 'lost' a vehicle off 'em at some time or another. And I'd rather not put myself in for that sort of grief...so Mrs Chodweaver will be enlisted for the dubious pleasure of steering the towed shite.

PS both projects are small car size so I don' t need towing capacity of more than 2 tonnes

The bodies that rough it would use one stick per letter! :)

Dollies are fine as long as it's the wider type that have the wheels sitting outside of the vehicle you're moving, if that makes sense. The cheaper ones that have a narrower track and wheels that sit under the front axle of the recovered vehicle are downright bloody dangerous if you ask me. Having said all that, if connected up properly, an A-frame is the weapon of choice for occasional dead chod relocation duties. The ex AA/RAC solomatic units are the ones to go for...

Ex-RAC tackle, now there's a thought...

Thanks all

A frame.

Simple, cheap, sits in the boot, piss easy to fit, keeps the wife out of it, and a normal car can do the job.

Just make sure it's a 'bit' bigger than the car you are pulling.

That guy in the vid above really needs a "THIS IS SPARTA" style kick in the balls. Its dingdongs like him with no common sense and a blatant disregard for safety that force the law down so hard on those of us who like to A-frame or dolly stuff and are not complete idiots about it.
