A couple of years ago I took the varnish and paint splashes off a simple wooden chair which three generations of my family have used as a decorating chair (it was probably quite nice, once).

That ^^ looks like hard work.

Re the LPG check the plugs and gaps and make sure it's got a proper air filter in 90% of lpg systems don't like k and n type cone filters.

My van always starts from stone cold on LPG but the idle is lumpy without using the choke to speed it up for the first half mile or so.

I've wanted to purchase a few cars that similar models were owned by family in my youth since I've joined here

My fathers 18 GTD was that Renault gold, with orange interior followed by an American 2 1.4

Are you using an airline sander as well? What colour is it going to be when painted?

Wow good work, it must have taken loads of work to get as far as that last pic so quickly.

It's taken a good few hours, if I can get the bonnet and boot in Primer today I'll be happy.

The bonnet and drivers door came from the gold 18 which went black, olive, red, white and one of the front wings was from a light blue car.

Wow, you don't hang about, do you?

Metallic brown would get my vote over the original burgundy.  Personally (not that you were asking) I think these look best in light metallics.  Such pretty cars, especially with the earlier chrome bumpers.

I tried an orbital sander with the compressor but it just isn't abrasive enough so I used some abrasive discs on an angle grinder which are designed for removing rust and paint.

After spraying some primer on the panels I have removed the paint from it seems smooth enough to paint.

Even with the grinder it takes forever but I'm enjoying the practice, if I fuck anything up who cares?

I'm still not 100% on going back to the original colour, it makes sense to go original because there are still quite a few bits around the car in the original colour so it means less work. The problem is that I don't really like the original colour and I'm only really thinking about it for a couple of reasons such as it might be easier to sell at a later date.

On the other hand if I'm going to go to the effort of painting it I should just do it a colour I like...

OM NOM NOM.

Seafoam green (would that be the right name for it?) looks so good on just about anything.

In other news the 190e failed to proceed on Thursday morning when we were leaving for work, It would start then die instantly so it got relegated to Mrs Foads collection of broken 2 litre beaters at the end of the driveway...

This morning I fitted some new plugs and a new air filter which made no difference to getting the car running. When I had the air filter housing off I had a poke at the flap in the air flow meter, it was stuck shut. After some more poking it fired up and didn't cut out. Result!

After sorting the 190 we had a go at the 360 but it's still not wanting to start, I fitted new plugs and a new fuel pump relay. I'm getting a spark and after trying the starter for ages I pulled one of the new plugs back out and it smelled like petrol so as far as I'm aware it's getting fuel but won't fire.

I really need to get it along to the garage for further inspection.
