A co-worker's girlfriend owns a Mazda 3 which features fist sized rust holes in the front wings. It's genuinely impressive, he also had a Mazda 3 but the subframe snapped. Both these cars are the same age as my Civic which has no rust problems at all, although it is from doon sooth...

Subframe on my Kia is looking a little* scabby. I have cleaned it up and waxoiled it up but it will need replaced soon.

I knew these wheels would eventually be fitted to something, I also painted the primered areas back to the original colour...

One of my old neighbours had a Samara, it replaced his Talbot Solara

I always admired it because it was the only one i had seen at that point in my life. Mind you, the same could be said for the Solara really

Just need to remove the residue left from the bump strips and pull the dent out and it'll be looking like new haha!

Probably better. Amazing what some rattle cans and some tidy wheels can do.

Carmel wheel should get rid of the glue without damaging the paint.

I'm kinda glad that this was so difficult to sell, I started it up after months of sitting and it fired into life straight away, I took it for a quick spin up the road and it drives surprisingly well and seemed reasonably quick for a na xud. I think I will tidy up the rust and keep it. I had the wheels left over from the first Wilsonx2 309 I bought so thought I would fit them to see how it looked.

Previously I had said that the rallye steels I had balanced and fitted to the c15 didn't wobble but I hadn't gotten it above 60 at the time of writing, The steering wheel wobble was actually pretty unbearable above 60 mph so I removed the tyres from the wheels fitted to the front of the van and fitted them to the Saxo spare wheels I had just painted. I didn't bother balancing them and the difference is amazing, I can cruise at 70 without the risk of hand arm vibration syndrome...

Had a go at tidying up the rust on the 309

Used the flappy disc to grind off the rust, primed the filled any holes then used a random can of white I found in the boot of another car...

Ignore the over-spray on the bumper I will remove that later.

I fitted the reflective "Heckblende" or whatever it's called, just need to sort out a sticky brake caliper and change the drive shafts and it'll be on the road in no time.

While I had the car running I noticed it was leaking, the engine was covered in oil and the rocker cover appeared to be leaking.

Mrs FOAD fitted the new gasket

The old gasket had a few splits and the metal surfaces were caked in oil and grime, with the new gasket on it no longer leaks oil but the arm on the pump is leaking diesel and will likely need changed. I already did the one on the 305 so there's a link somewhere in this thread for the correct o ring.

We finally had a go at painting with a compressor and spray gun

If the paint is thin enough it works quite well, the grey wasn't all that great but I have a big tin of red oxide I painted the r18 with, I remembered it was very thin so chucked some of that in.

It lasted quite well. I'm thinking I should paint a car with the spray gun, the paint on the ranger is quite bad so that's a possibility to practice on.

The ranger is going forestry commission green, I picked up a tin of metal paint from aldi for £5 so if I get it finished it'll be my cheapest paint job yet...

Should have the rest painted tomorrow after work.

Spotted the Samara on carandclassic earlier GLWTS

Why would you use the service history to mask it?

Because it belonged to a car that I no longer owned.

Sort that front plate out with some sticky pads instead of screws and it would look pretty damn clean!
