It's probably in the same kind of condition as the 309, needs work but isn't completely past it. I'm considering it just for the engine alone, whether it goes back on the road, who knows?
DodgyBastard Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Got myself a modern!I gave the non runner 440 and £100 for it. It runs really nicely, the mot ran out yesterday but I can't see it needing much if anything. I think the owner was pretty clueless, he wanted the 440 for a project as he was going to be doing a classic car restoration course at college. He turned up with his cousin who had a Skoda Fabia that was covered in tat, stickers and led'd everywhere including the mudflaps, it was certainly the barryest car I've seen in a while. We pushed the 440 out the gates and they called the rac while pretending to have broken down. They were there until after 11pm. The Subaru is on 106k miles, we all had a go in it around the yard and it goes ok for a 2l non turbo awd automatic, I don't imagine the fuel consumption will be much worse than what I'm used to. worldofceri, Coprolalia, Bucketeer and 3 others 6
DodgyBastard Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 DSC_0838 by srblythe, on Flickr I took the forester out onto a quiet road for a test drive, it's a lot quicker than I had anticipated last night, it's a 2.0l non turbo automatic awd. I had wanted to get it in for an mot today but my usual place was booked up until Tuesday so I've left it until Friday morning next week. DSC_0840 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0842 by srblythe, on Flickr Going by the way it drives and the amount of recent parts it's had fitted I think it will pass the mot. DodgyBastard Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 I changed the engine and diff oil in Big Sexy and bought an air filter, it's running much smoother but the diff still whines. DSC_0909 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0925 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0944 by srblythe, on Flickr I fixed the wobble by putting some air in the tyres, the rears were around 10 psi, the tracking still needs done but it's a lot easier to handle than it was before. cort16, Jim Bergerac, The Moog and 6 others 9
dome Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Tried some molyslip in the diff? It'd be worth a shot I'd say. CreepingJesus 1

Supernaut Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Ooooh, Foresters do keep pinging my radar from time to time. I think it would make a good thing to bomb about in with a mountain bike in the back. I can't help but think your definition of 'quick' differs from mine though. I can't imagine a 2.0 N/A one of them with an auto box being anything but depressing.

DodgyBastard Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 Renault 18 has now been sold to a new old owner for the third time. Renault 18 away to new owner! by srblythe, on Flickr Old radiator was indeed knackered DSC_0021 by srblythe, on Flickr So Mike (Nisfan) fitted a new one and also adjusted the clutch cable tension and it now goes into gear smoothly with no crunching. How long the car will now last is anyone's guess but it's currently the best it's been in a long time. DSC_0025 by srblythe, on Flickr Richard, Coprolalia, worldofceri and 5 others 8

DodgyBastard Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 I took the c15 around Inverness and aberdeenshire. I stayed a night in Fortrose. The van needs some insulation and air vents, its roasting inside during the day and freezing at night and suffers condensation much like a tent. The only benefit over a tent is not having to pack anything up when leaving. Overall it wasn't too bad to sleep in, I know how to make it better. It needs better curtains and a better way of fixing them in place. The space for sleeping in was adequate but its never going to be amazing for someone at 6ft2" trying to squeeze into a c15... KruJoe Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yes it did when we last saw it, as did the light on it. The needle wasn't well damped, but it's a bloody Samara. It is a keeper, Scotty?
BavarianRetro Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Define "keeper" in Scott's world? Seriously, what is the longest time you've owned a car and what was it? I take it that the shortest period you've owned something is measured in minutes rather than hours? Or seconds even?
JohnK Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I want it back when you've finished with it Scott. I did say to Daniel that I'm not convinced the fuel gauge works, I parked it up once with 1/4 tank and the next day it wouldn't start, I chucked a gallon in and it fire straight up. Likewise on Thursday I put £20 in before I went to meet up with him to do the exchange and it still had just over 1/2 a tank when I got up to Northumberland! Edit - Joe can you message me? It keeps saying your inbox is full and I want to arrange returning the A Frame. KruJoe 1
