I have a distinct aversion to Cortinas after many freezing nights doing rear arm bushes on the bastards but your estate is a corker!

Expand

Yeah Cortina were terrible for destroying rear axle bushes back in the day. Fortunately a modern solution exists. Fit polybushes once and forget 😀

you can't fix the void bushes too much or you'll lose the tinacorner "waddle" 🤣

Wasn’t the hot mod fitting the estate “heavy duty” void bushes on all them them?

As if I didn't have enough rusty old shitters but £320 for a running mx5 delivered to me, I couldn't say no to...

Forgot you had the Chevette, would go like a scalded cat with that lump in it.

Made a start on patching up the LDV, it's really quite rusty.

Also sold the MX-5 for £520 this morning. I only really bought it to see if I could comfortably sit it in one and the answer is yes. I'd rather just spend more money on a good one rather than restoring that one.

Some more progress on the LDV, starting to get the hang of the sheet metal folder which helps when trying to replicate the original panels.

It's far from perfect but I'm happy enough with the results.

I've been out flying my drone quite a lot recently trying to make cinematic looking videos of the cars.

The photos it can take are pretty good too.

Some more bits done on the LDV, the worst part is I haven't even made much progress on the list of MOT failures, still have loads to do.

Every time I feel like I'm getting somewhere with this I find more rust to remove!

That's as far as I got today. Ended up having to chop more metal out so I'll have some solid stuff to weld next time.

Another crunchy looking bit I don't think was even part of the mot fail.

It's going to be great fun tidying this mess.

I'm thinking about selling the Cortina, it's been sitting unused for a couple of weeks along with the 505 and I was more excited about getting to drive the 505 than the cortina so thinking I should maybe sell.

I asked on the Cortina FB group a rough value, they seemed to think it was worth £4-5k.

Also thinking I'd sell the c90.

These days they are going for £1500-£2000.

I paid £1500 for it so would need that back.

Ldv updates? Not much. Found some blue paint to cover the primer. Looks a little less shit.

Still have loads of welding to do, maybe have another crack at it tonight after work.

Cue the endless comments when you put it up for sale saying "it's only worth [20% of asking price] as it clearly hasn't been looked after because according to the MOT history it had an advisory for a tyre in 2009" - as with any other FB enthusiast group 🤦😂

Have I missed any further updates on the blue Chevette or not much been going on with that lately?

Not much going on with it, I'm looking for a radiator then doing the little bits it needs for an mot.

I always thought the later ones dropped the c90 name and just called them a cub,   if they are now worth that much I think I will buy this one offered to me for 600 quid last month.
