John F Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Has anyone tried out one of these things? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7MM-6-LED-USB-Endoscope-Borescope-Inspection-Video-Camera-Loupe-Waterproof-2M-UK-/181703820583?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a4e644527 The price is very tempting, but not if it's a pile of cack. Info appreciated!
daveb47 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I have one and it works very well, obviously resolution is not fantastic but enough for car use.Used it to read impossible to see part number on starter motor recently.I use mine with contacam which means you can record video etc.
Rusty_Rocket Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 My pal has that exact one. We use it to look through spark plug holes to see how bad cylinder bores are after they've sat for years. As DaveB says, resolution is not the best but it does the job and works faultlessly!
Six-cylinder Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I have the WORKZONE inspection camera but find the resolution is not there and would buy a better/more expensive one if I had my time again.
red5 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Yep = use them as disposable version of our 'proper' ones in workshop. Pretty much as the others have said.
PhilA Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Those have come a long way from the fiber-optic flexy boroscope we have here at work. Only advantage the old one has is the focal length is better. But still, for the price- an illuminated webcam in an IP65 housing for seven quid? Buy it! (Also can be used as a cheap go-pro, duct-tape it to the underneath of the car and go for a drive!) --Phil
