Also big trouble and complexity doesn't ruin the value of most classic cars! Look at jag's/rollers/Bentley's/high output Bimmers/etc.

Maybe, but I suspect the dodgy ones have ended up as spares or in Africa by now. Air suspension problems actually don't seem that bad. If pump, cheap rebuild kits are available. If struts, then cheaper aftermarket ones are available now direct from Germany too. They're around £250 price point but considering that's the spring and damper in one, that's not a bad price imo. Also, they're very easy to DIY replace and no worries of a spring in your face.

I'm weird and electronic faults are much more preferable to me than mechanical. I actually enjoy fault finding and repairing them. :)

CAN systems are actually not that complex things. By modern standards especially they are pretty slow and very simple protocols. Simple enough to be able to decode it with an oscilloscope and by eye. In fact I did just that for my final major university project when I was trying to get my project working (a CAN interlinked analog data acquisition system).

You sound like the ideal bloke to drive an early Volvo S80.

I have to say, I hate both. Electronic problems and mechanical ones. It´s a cars abitlity to rust that does not bother me that much.

I am not a mechanic, so repairing electronic or mechanical bits is not possible for me sadly, but rust-proofing and taking car of a

car is possible even for me with my two left hands.

Will they last long enough to become shite?

In other news, our local GreatWall dealer now has in its showroom........

2 Peroduas and a Fiat X1/9

Could this have been one of the shortest lived franchise? Or maybe they sold them all.

Maybe the Chinese asked the dealership to obtain them for evaluation.....

The new GW model will eventually combine the driveability of one with the corrosion resistance and reliability of the other.   Not saying which way round, mind....

Great Walls, pickups designed by someone who models composite cars for video games, seem to sell well here in the Highlands.

Seat Exeo, they make no sense as they weren't that cheap new.

Bang on. Although I bought a 6 month old base model for reasonable money. Bloody good car though.

The Honda dealership in Edinburgh went over to Great Wall (along with SsangYong) when they lost the Honda franchise.. Barely a year after the change I was going past in the train and looked out the window to admire some future shite and was shocked to see the dealership in question had been demolished. It's low cost student flats now.

I think at first there was meant to be a whole range of Great Walls but they seem to have given up and stopped with just the pickup one.

I don't think the Rodius will be around long enough to qualify as they are currently quite popular

for use in banger racing due to their size, cost and complete lack of desireability.

They usually come without engine as the running gear is I believe Mercedes and the repair costs mean that

they go to an early grave (see avva ta!)
