Just picked up this beauty cos I can`t say no.....

Its not my thing though as I hate spannering but don`t mind bodywork

head gasket gone.engine runs and sounds sweet but gets hot quickly and there are melted caramac bars instead of oil

Body not too bad for a Metro

Drives ok apart from judder from brakes which I assume is discs

Its in Cleobury Mortimer.

Was asking for £300 but any swaps or part ex would be more interesting, cash either way. I`m quite partial to French stuff by the way but anything considered!post-19511-0-79192500-1426877135_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-86434700-1426877183_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-43612500-1426877221_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-39618800-1426877272_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-03335200-1426877331_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-57554500-1426877375_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-64767300-1426877419_thumb.jpg

forgot to mention its got 4 new tyres :)

1 month Mot

84,000 miles

Posted

8 valve

Its had a new arch at some point but they must have cocked up the join by either not cutting the rust out or not sealing it properly and rust got in there. My Triumph Acclaim has the same problem

What a grim Metro. Great stuff!

I've seen a few Metros like that. It's either the de rigueur repair or it's breached a flood defence at low tide.

Odd, I know they have a reputation for rotting, but the ones I see down here are MINTOLA.

Posted

I'm playing the organ down the road from there tomorrow if anyone wants me to take a look of it.

Then again you might not want me to going by my latest aquisition!

I was looking for Disco tyres on eBay earlier and saw some in Cleobury Mortimer, then saw this Metro in your other items :)

Who is Cleobury Mortimer?

winner of the tidiest village 2010. I moved there there in 2011 and it hasn`t won an award since as I have cluttered it up with rusty heaps

And so it shall be written on his gravestone......

Nice chap but so useless he couldn`t sell a Metro on an Autoshite forum........

Corsa should be any easy seller I would of thought????

Fancy a Metro/ Corsa deal??

It's all about the money, Tom. No offence or anything, but it's pretty undesirable and vastly over-priced.

Just like my Scenic.

Well its got 9 watchers on ebay....... hopefully one of them will bite eventually.......

Or I`ll just park it up and watch it appreciate in value..Or dissolve. Whichever comes first

Posted

I've had 1,264 (and counting) watchers on Autoshite for my Renault. Nobody has bought it.

*1262 of them were me.

If it had been an A series I'd have been onnit like a car bonnet. But its a K series and frankly I wouldnt shed a tear if they all got cubed tomorrow.

Any body interested ata seriously reduced price of £150?

No less though as if it doesn`t sell at that I shall plaster in old engine oil and park it in the corner of the yard until it either dissolves or goes up in value. Whichever happens first.

I`m thinking dissolve but whatever :)

Of course I may just end up filling iit with scrap and weighing it in but its seems a bit of a shame

Am half tempted to trailer it to Pride of Longbridge with a for sale sign...but I really can`t be arsed

Not that anyone gives the slightest fuck but I``ve plastered it in old engine oil and waxoyl, given it a good polish and parked it at a friend`s place as my yard is full of both shite and shit.

I have removed the MX5 that has been there for a couple of years and will now attempt to get roadworthy.

Will probably forget about Metro but may take yearly updates of nature taking it back :)

Does it have an MOT? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post

Posted

it did when I originally posted it but it has just run out. Doesn`t appear to need any welding

While clearing out more of my accumulated junk today I found a low mileage (65000 ish ) cylinder head off a 1993 1.4 injection that I scrapped a couple of years ago. Yours for £30 if you want to mend your Metro and can collect from Hednesford.

This is still here!

Had almost forgotten about it but someone on here asked me about it so I'm just giving this thread a bump ☺

And there was I thinking that the days of Metro's for £150 were long gone?? Proved me wrong didn't you?

Looks O.K though

Its a fooked Kettle series GSi with real imitation plastic trim.

£50 at best in a following wind - and thats being generous Im afraid. Its about as desirable as ringworm in your crotch on a hot summers day.

Of course, this is only my opinion, and I like Metros.
