Due to the recent purchasing of many toys, all V6 petrols, the old derv must move on.

 

Let's get the juices flowing with some porn first...

 

 

1995 2.5 TD VSX

 

What a car! But it isn't a V6.

 

106k miles, nice bit of history with it including evidence of recent services and a timing belt in 2012.

 

Bodywork is very presentable with the exception of a blue drivers wing mirror! Interior is pretty much immaculate, even has a retro fitted electric leather arm rest.

 

She drives like a dream, the big old derv can fairly shift this brute, and the engine really does feel spot on. There is a very slight air leak into the fuel line and I've found that a quick prime gets her started nicer after sitting for a few weeks. From day to day there is no problem starting, and it would start fine without the priming after sitting, just take a little longer.

 

Other than that, the previous owner says it will need a touch of welding for the next MOT which is up in May. I haven't looked underneath, or even given it so much as a wash in my time with it. The spheres are good, it rides lovely and rises as it should after starting up. All electric windows work, the remote plip locks everything except the boot which needs done by the key. The pixel display is shite as usual, all VSX trims present and correct, automatic climate works lovely.

 

I'm in Belfast, £500 takes it away!

But I would have to sell the Volvo.

 

And the XM doesn't have a three point belt in the middle rear seat so for child carrying duties I can't see it working.

As soon as transporting a car is involved, ferry companies stick a nought on.  I think the least I've ever paid on that trip was £60.00 (with a car, one way), and that was fifteen years ago.  It seemed (relatively) bargainous, even then.

not been in a car to ireland for 20 years cos of prices - its cheaper to fly and hire

They are a piss take. When visiting family in Birmingham I tend to fly over, buy something cheap and flog it for slightly more to cover the ferry back - just because I enjoy the drive far more than an encounter with FlyBe

You can deliver the car to P&O freight office in Belfast, they'll load the car and unload it at Troon. Total cost about £120. Good service. 

 

I've never used it but I assume they'll do the same thing Cairnryan to Larne.

 

Note that Troon/Belfast doesn't start till the end of March.
