garbaldy Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 They all hunt slightly and randomly. Mine does too. Can't find any faults. No air leaks, tps changed, O2 sensor changed, Throttle body changed. Exhaust changed. They just do sometimes. I'm pretty sure this one has a problem as its worse than the last one, I might try and video it if I can work out how to feed the vhs tape into the 20th century. Where about is it and what's the nearest train station? The nearest train station is Berwick upon tweed (15 miles) and I can meet any one wanting me to relieve them of some cash.
AlabamaShrimp Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 OK not that far then, but far enough. Will look into it. Would like to hear that noise if you can make it work though
DVee8 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Again in my head a 53plate is a new car. A new car for £199 notes good luck eddyramrod 1
saucedoctor Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 There a bolt on the back/top of the clutch pedal, and they wind out. Wind it in a bit. TADT,S. Should lower the pedal a bit. Check the nut on the end of the pedal bar, too: the one on my 25, and my mate's ZedArse weren't tight. With regard to the hunting idle, considering that it's a ZR and has seen some engin-bay Barrying, it's worth checking that someone hasn't removed the airbox resonator to give MOAR INDUCTIONROAR YO. eddyramrod 1
AlabamaShrimp Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 So I want this car but my mate has let me down on going to get it and the trains a fortune. Anyone want to make a special autoshite ferry service type thing?
garbaldy Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 This fine wee motor car is still here and since this is not a lottery lets add a bit of lottery madness shall we. Tonight's lottery bonus ball was the number 33 so lets deduct that from the sale price of £199.99 now for sale at £166.99
AlabamaShrimp Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I'll definitely take it! Can't arrange transport but I will!
garbaldy Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 I've just noticed a problem on an eBay seller size scale or should I say a friend did, the mot is not the 24th its actually the 12th so only a couple of days, I also have been reading up on the running issue and some say that the coil packs or dodgy plugs can cause this, anyone varify that or is it internet hearsay.
ruffgeezer Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 If it ends up being shitcanned, and I really hope that isn't the case, I could do with some parts for the unwise.
garbaldy Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 I decided to have a quick look so fired up the old crane and removed the cover,It looks like someone has put a bit of hose pipe and a load of insulating tape around the plug lead, could this cause the running issues? Pillock Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Could be, it doesn't look like MGRover Hosepipe and Insulating Tape. Theirs was thinner and cheaper. Ben_O 1
Forty-two Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 If you can run the car somewhere dark, no street lights, you should see electricity escaping up the lead. Worked to diagnose shite leads on a Nova back in the 1990's... eddyramrod 1

Worked to diagnose shite leads on a Nova back in the 1990's...you haven't seen where I live, nearest street light 2 miles away, anyhoo I decided to pull plugs out to have a laugh at them, this is what I discovered. After much laughing and pointing i found a set of these in the stores so bunged them in and it still does it. fiddlesticks
garbaldy Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 Talks are a foot so this Saturdays lottery reduction is on hold just now. Normal service will resume if a deal can't be thrashed out.
garbaldy Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 I changed all plugs and put two leads of anotber engine to try it but it was still the same so now I'm thinking idle control valve or an air leak. angle 1
garbaldy Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 This should hopefully be a video of the engine running. Edit, try again. https://youtu.be/MljbcbcqSTI
AlabamaShrimp Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I think that's it sorted now,Lol nope still says the same

garbaldy Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Talks are a foot so this Saturdays lottery reduction is on hold just now. Normal service will resume if a deal can't be thrashed out. It's available again due to unforseen circumstances, does anyone want this I will consider swaps part ex for anything, unfortunately due to insurance issues I can't accept wife's girlfriends or partners,
Tam Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Been suggested it could be map sensor or idle control valve. I posted your video in Scottish MG and Rover owners group (Facebook :/)

I posted your video in Scottish MG and Rover owners group (Facebook :/)I know where the idle control valve is but no idea where the map sensor is.I don't want to start replacing bits Willy nilly on a car I may end up binning Tam 1
Tam Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I know what you mean, ideally you want a good one to swap bits back and forward till something works!
garbaldy Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 With a bit of luck the guy that bought my first mg is going to try and pop over with his so part swaping should commence. It may end up being parts swapped from this one though as his first question was what are the seats like. Tam 1
garbaldy Posted August 15, 2015 Author Posted August 15, 2015 Well the guy rained of.I decided to chuck my cheepy £2.99 code reader onto the car and this is what popped upStrange that my friends sooper dooper snap on code reader showed up no faults Soz for the PIC I blame the code reader Lacquer Peel, mouseflakes, Vince70 and 1 other 4
