They all hunt slightly and randomly. Mine does too. Can't find any faults. No air leaks, tps changed, O2 sensor changed, Throttle body changed. Exhaust changed. They just do sometimes.

I'm pretty sure this one has a problem as its worse than the last one, I might try and video it if I can work out how to feed the vhs tape into the 20th century.

Where about is it and what's the nearest train station?

The nearest train station is Berwick upon tweed (15 miles) and I can meet any one wanting me to relieve them of some cash.

OK not that far then, but far enough. Will look into it. Would like to hear that noise if you can make it work though

Again in my head a 53plate is a new car. A new car for £199 notes good luck

There a bolt on the back/top of the clutch pedal, and they wind out. Wind it in a bit. TADT,S. Should lower the pedal a bit.

Check the nut on the end of the pedal bar, too: the one on my 25, and my mate's ZedArse weren't tight.

With regard to the hunting idle, considering that it's a ZR and has seen some engin-bay Barrying, it's worth checking that someone hasn't removed the airbox resonator to give MOAR INDUCTIONROAR YO.

So I want this car but my mate has let me down on going to get it and the trains a fortune.

Anyone want to make a special autoshite ferry service type thing?

This fine wee motor car is still here and since this is not a lottery lets add a bit of lottery madness shall we.

Tonight's lottery bonus ball was the number 33 so lets deduct that from the sale price of £199.99

now for sale at  £166.99

I've just noticed a problem on an eBay seller size scale or should I say a friend did, the mot is not the 24th its actually the 12th so only a couple of days,

I also have been reading up on the running issue and some say that the coil packs or dodgy plugs can cause this, anyone varify that or is it internet hearsay.

Posted

If it ends up being shitcanned, and I really hope that isn't the case, I could do with some parts for the unwise.

I decided to have a quick look so fired up the old crane and removed the cover,

It looks like someone has put a bit of hose pipe and a load of insulating tape around the plug lead, could this cause the running issues?

Could be, it doesn't look like MGRover Hosepipe and Insulating Tape. Theirs was thinner and cheaper.

If you can run the car somewhere dark, no street lights, you should see electricity escaping up the lead.  Worked to diagnose shite leads on a Nova back in the 1990's...

Talks are a foot so this Saturdays lottery reduction is on hold just now. Normal service will resume if a deal can't be thrashed out.

Did you swap out the HT lead?

Posted

I changed all plugs and put two leads of anotber engine to try it but it was still the same so now I'm thinking idle control valve or an air leak.

Posted

Ah shizzle sticks,

I changed it to pubic so fook knows.

Its sorted, Ya dancer I is getting the hang of this modernez techno shizzle

It's available again due to unforseen circumstances, does anyone want this I will consider swaps part ex for anything, unfortunately due to insurance issues I can't accept wife's girlfriends or partners,

Been suggested it could be map sensor or idle control valve. I posted your video in Scottish MG and Rover owners group (Facebook :/)

I know where the idle control valve is but no idea where the map sensor is.

I don't want to start replacing bits Willy nilly on a car I may end up binning

I know what you mean, ideally you want a good one to swap bits back and forward till something works!

With a bit of luck the guy that bought my first mg is going to try and pop over with his so part swaping should commence.

It may end up being parts swapped from this one though as his first question was what are the seats like.

Posted

Well the guy rained of.

I decided to chuck my cheepy £2.99 code reader onto the car and this is what popped up
