Six-cylinder Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 Tonight was collection night for the CX. No heroic train journeys just a pleasant evening drive out using our DS. Mrs Cyl drove it home safely with no problems, we didn't even have to stop for petrol as there was plenty provided. Junkman, Skizzer, Asimo and 6 others 9

Not sure what you want from me, this car was bought from a very nice 86 year old retired bank manager who had had it 30 years!

Six-cylinder Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Today has been a good clean up for my 735i with the help of my son we has scrubbed and polished it, cleaned the wheels, cleaned the engine bay and fitted new s/h boot and bonnet struts. All this is for its appearance at little Gransden Airshow tomorrow with other BMWs of the 7 series Register. Junkman, Bucketeer, holbeck and 2 others 5

Six-cylinder Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Frustration – why can’t things go to plan. After the garage removed the engine from my BMW E46 spares car they decided that it would not fit my E36 because the electrics were different! The E46 was a running car and much easer to handle that way, if only they told me before they started. Anybody got a BMW 328i E36 engine for sale?
Skizzer Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 ^ Painful. Missed the CX arrival before - that looks like an absolute stunner! Outstanding purchase Mr Cylinder. Bucketeer 1
Bucketeer Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 ^^^ Seconded.I missed that too. The purchase shot with the DS in the background is definite calendar material.Probably too good/hot for the AS calendar though, maybe more suited to the type of calendar that you would keep in the bedroom for nocturnal 'inspiration'.
RichardK Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 "because the electrics were different".Then change them. BMWs are wonderfully modular when it comes to K-bus etc. wiring. Though I kinda wish I still had my E39 528i to donate the engine from.

Though I kinda wish I still had my E39 528i to donate the engine from. The E46 328i is a twin Vanos engine and I have had 3 people tell me it's not an easy swap. The E39 528i pre 99 would have done the job.
RichardK Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Twin Vanos sounds like trouble anyway. Besides, 528's M52 is a great engine, and the same in a 328 isn't it?
Six-cylinder Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Yes the E36 and E39 have M52 and the E46 M54TU, I am learning.
Six-cylinder Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Over the weekend I was introduced to my new car! My son has been wittering on about a friend who has a Citroen ZX TD Avantage that he will want to sell and will I buy? Maybe has always been my answer but on Saturday night I got to meet the car so I guess somehow that means I am committed! Anyway I asked when and was told it was going to take a year to save for his new car so I am off the hook for a while. Lacquer Peel and stripped fred 2
Six-cylinder Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 I have now agreed to buy another engine for my E36 BMW 328i, lets hope this one works out.
Six-cylinder Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 Some good news my Alfa 156 Sportswagon V6 has had its gear change fixed and I have test driven it today and all seems fine. Unfortunately that's not the end of it because now they have identified front suspension work, brakes and a radiator that need sorting, I have given the go ahead......
Six-cylinder Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Six Citroens can’t wait to get the Chevron Rally this evening! Sudsprint, richardmorris, HMC and 3 others 6

RichardK Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 If you're ever short of a place to store the CX... Inhabitants here get occasional treats as well, when articles take me in the right directions.
Six-cylinder Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Ooh, ooh, what time and where? My merc insurance policy does cover third party other cars. MK17 0PF to my home 5 miles away but you can take the long way if you like! Sunday 4-5pm I guess as the Rally finishes.
Six-cylinder Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 If you're ever short of a place to store the CX... Inhabitants here get occasional treats as well, when articles take me in the right directions. Where are you based, I am Buckingham?
RichardK Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 North Kilworth, near Lutterworth. Maybe a touch far out, but not an insane distance.
Six-cylinder Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 North Kilworth, near Lutterworth. Maybe a touch far out, but not an insane distance. I have four more cars this winter than last that need storing undercover and lost one storage space. I have asked locally and been given a yes but I need to clear a space, that was a month ago and nothing has happened. As you said not that far 40ish miles which, would be better than it standing it out for the winter. Maybe you could pm me with details of rent, postcode and security arrangements.
Six-cylinder Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 Target met! We got six of our Citroen's to the Chevrons Rally today. DSdriver, mouseflakes, anonymous user and 8 others 11
