I am surprised you say that, it has always seemed a very original car to me.

It is an early ish 1968 MK2.

I bought it from @RobT of this parish nearly 2 years ago and am really enjoying it.

I love the strip Speedo.

I love the strip too, remember a landcrab Dad had with one. I meant it was late for me, not the car, and that it would originally not have a yellow background rear plate

Yellow-white plates were introduced in 1967 as a safety aid and by 1968 nearly everybody wanted them to show that their new car was the latest and greatest.

Me I had to be different, in 1980 I was running this 1969 Triumph Vitesse 2.0 MK2 saloon and replaced the yellow-white plates with black perspex with silver line letters, well I did sell them in the motor parts store I managed.

A bit disappointed with the Mazda 323 GLX 1.5 today as I filled it with petrol and checked the fuel consumption for the first time.  33.1 mpg, I was hoping for 35-40 mpg.

I topped the Mazda fuel up today and over the last 200 miles it has given me 34.9 mpg, a slight improvement. Nearly meeting my expectation now.

I missed out on the FREE Hubnut Saab convertible by being at the Supply and Industry Café a week early!

Prize winning Mazda!

Today was a local meeting for the Loose Alliance Group at the Dukes, Heath and Reach. I had planned to take my Morris 1300, but it was pouring with rain and I nearly took the Range Rover. In the end I settled on the Mazda 323 and glad I did as it won "Car of the Day" that gives me a free breakfast next time! Seems it was the oldest classic out today and others bought a modern classic or daily car.
