Klassik insurances?

Having lumbered mesel with a both the polo and the jaaag just before xmas i find myself in a curious position..

The 320i and the polo are on a multi car policy-buttons all in. This is despite them being outside, no garages here.

I have 3 options re insuring the Jag (bearing in mind the lack of garage)-

1.swap it onto either the polo or 320i policy and pap one off the road

2. Take out a normal policy for the jag (looking at 300ish). Would build ip ssome no claims on this policy

3. Procure some classic insurance- no ncb but potwntial much cheeps.

What eould you do, and if classic insurance, can you suggest companies?

Maybe have a look in one or two of the 50 insurance threads which happen every week?

Most helpfuls. Reason for asking is due to lack of garage (often an issue with classic insurance)

I have my XJ40 insured on a classic policy. It is currently with Peter James - and costs about £130 per year IIRC. No mileage restriction either, which surprised me. Not that it makes much difference, since I don't do many miles. It is garaged though.

When I removed the "Always Garaged" to "sometimes in the drive, sometimes in the street, and sometimes in the garage" on the MX5, the cost of policy went down.

Apparently they have more accidental damage in garages, and it's easier to steal a car when the car is hidden away and the thief can work away with no interruption.

I have heard this before. However, when insuring the GS I asked if I could have it without the garage clause, and it was a big no. However, they allowed me to give two garage addresses where it would be stored, so maximum flexibility on my part was restored. I think it probably varies from insurer to insurer what the rule is. Looks like you need to do a wee bit of phoning around.

My BX is insured with Adrian flux who are not flexible and charge for any and every change, and the GS with Footman James who seem a bit more flexible. Both on classic policies with limited mileage which suits and agreed value,

Thanks for that-sounds like flux are likely not worth a shot. Will try footman james on the blower

It also shows that you're being honest which for risk purposes is a good thing.

Too many people claim that their car is "always garaged over night 'onest guv'" and then when they come to make a claim the insurer finds out that wasn't always the case.

I've never had any of my classics insured as 'garaged' and have never had insurance refused. Online web quote systems are generally a bunch of arse. Only way to do it is get on the phone and repeat the same sodding information over and over again.
