I picked this up yesterday

It's an earlyish T5 manual, seems to be the base model. It has air-con instead of climate control,no wood trim inside,a gearknob that looks like it's from a Transit,& half-leather seats, although the electric fronts have been replaced with manual full leather.

It was on Ebay, but I got the seller to let me know the reserve,he pulled it after I gave him a deposit. The ad said the EML was on due to injector o-rings,but it went out while I was testing it & hasn't come back on.It's had a recentish cambelt,& the windows both work, these were both things that a lot I had seen needed doing.

Mot runs until August,so I reckoned there were worse ways of spending £600 :-)

First impressions are it doesn't feel quite as quick as I thought it would, but I guess it's quite a heavy thing,I know people say the 2.0 non turbo cars need more power.

I have a 2002 Hairdresser model and it's pretty good except for electrical gremlins and the awful turning circle.

I love these visually. Never driven one though, people keep saying they are thirstly, slow and handle poorly for what they are. However they all said that about the Aldi Coupe too and I absolutely loved that, so suppose I would probably like this too.

This is a good month for classy shite it seems. And £600 is a real bargain, less than I paid for mine, and mine is rubbish.

I do like the look of these, chap up the road has a cabrio one. (might be the later version)

looks good - I did consider one of these instead of the E320 but the Merc won on space ...

I was offered an 02 plate T5 Cabrio oné of these for £600 about 6 months ago. Had the nice optional split rims and lots of goodies but an absolutely hideous two tone grey leather interior.

I really can't stand grey leather so didn't buy it.

I've had two and loved them both. Funnily enough the EML was on in both, never affected the driving and I occasionally erased the codes which would just come back in a few days. The second one had a JBL stereo system with a woofer on the middle of the dash which sounded fantastic. Their turning circle on the other hand...... You'll soon find out.

Enjoy.

lol about the turning circle - the one on the E320 is like a German taxi ...

Can't say I liked the one I had at all.
Everything that can be appreciated with the engine switched off was great. It looked great, had a really nice interior and the most boom-tastic stereo I've ever experienced in a car, the full 11 speaker Dynaudio Dolby Pro Logic kit, but everything about the driving experience was dismal.

Still, if you can live with its shortcomings, for £600 it's a lot of car for the money.

Yep, the handling is pretty terrible for hooning on the back roads, but it's more of a cruiser along thing. Mpg is not the best, but what the hell.

what is it about modern cars that the front foglights come on before the back and you have to have them on to have the rear fog light working - both Merc and Pug are like this.
