Scotland gains another Volvo estate ---Final Dissertation---

Doesn't the radio losing settings when turned off mean there isn't a constant live to it? My neighbour fixed that problem for me a while back by putting a constant live to it, in fact I seem to recall it was merely one plug that wasn't in the right place.

I still have the C70, but it's really coming apart at the seems. It now creaks and groans with every turn.

Have any of you SVM boys got a drivers side 760 headlight going spare???

Think I've only got nearside ones but I'm sure Andy (cms206) has an offside.

Possibly but the radio does seem to have other issues. It also has 2 fuses - one for the ignition and one for constant live. The radio cuts out when either is pulled so surely if there's no constant live then pulling the constant live fuse wouldn't make a difference? Also pulling the radio fuse from the car itself kills the radio suggesting it IS getting constant live. I have a wiring adapter coming at about £4 from ebay to test with a rather gaudy JVC cd player. If that works ok then I'll try to find a decent volvo one.

It shouldn't happen with oem kit but I've had to swap the ignition and permanent lives before, sometimes the lighting feed too. There doesn't seem to be a standard layout.

Anyone fancy a 960

It's in Scotland already and I've been offered it for £400!

Just checked my spares stash and I have one facelift 760 headlight and it is an offside; if memory serves yours has 940 headlights which I think I also have many of but I'll need to check the shed when I get home.

Well the wiring harness was a fluff. Too many connections needing swapped but it was cheap so I won't complain. To use said radio anawl would require a bypass of the Volvo amp system that controls all the door speakers.

Further proddings reveal the radio does have a constant 12v source. Running at about 2.5v. It's 2.5v to ground at the radio fuse which, according to the wiring diagram, goes straight to battery +. So now I have to trace a dodgy connection from the fuse to the battery. Deep joy and merryment.

Anyone any suggestions on how to trace this before I steal a 12v from somewhere?

Crisis averted. Audio connections in the fusebox had been assaulted by someone. Amp wasn't wired properly and the radio fuse wasn't getting any power at all. Where the 2.5v I was reading was coming from I'll never know. Radio and amp work as they should now but as the radio directly powers the dashtop speakers and one is mega loud, it's definitely obvious the radio has issues. TO EBAY!!!

Wow thanks chief. How do I tell if mine has 940 or 760 headlights??

As you look at the headlights, the inner section has the main beam and foglight built in; the 760s are the same size and rectangular, the 940s are different sizes and the lower one has a sloping edge. Sure yours has 940 units as 760 items are pretty rare now. either way I'll dig one out and send it down for £postage if it's any use to you.

1) Surely that's a 760

2) More details please. Would I be burnt in a giant wicker man if I attempted to buy it and remove it to blighty?

Yep. Pulls as a 760 Turbo

3) I've jizzed all over my keyboard; cash money waiting. Make it be mine! Want level exceeding 1000%!

Photos!!!

About time I got this out and about for a photoshoot. The target this time was the Argyll Forest National Park. Glasgow - Lochgoilhead - Dunoon - Glasgow etc.

Things to be noted over the past few days:

Brakes are frightening.

Oil is dripping from under the air cleaner. Needs investigation.

OSF wheel bearinggets loud on any left lock at high speed.

Anyways enough with the complaints. As usual go to the Flickr album for the rest...
