Calibra window switch

Hello,

I have a friend at work who is trying to keep his Calibra on the road.
One thing on his little list (other than valve stem oil seals) , is the fact he feels like a trapped dog, in his own car.

So can anyone on here help him out, either by sending some generic Vauxhall window switch - So i can steal the little tabs inside, and repair his old one, or if you have a complete window switch set for a Calibra, that would be fantastic.

I shall try get pictures of said shitter.

Thank you

Yes this picture has been 'borrowed' from an ebay listing, trying to find cheaper alternative than £19 :-o

Surely its simply easier to just spend £19 on a new one. I know its wasteful but that sounds like a lot of hassle doing this when you could be watching repeats of Sex in the City on Comedy Central or something. £19 is not cheap for what it is but its still not a lot.

Not my money, otherwise i would do so.
He's asked me if i could get one for around £10, bearing in mind he's scraping by on minimum wage.
Just thought i would ask on here, in the hope and belief that someone may actually have one.
If not, and he gets stuck, then i'll chip in the rest and get the ebay one ... I loathe using Ebay.

Not knocking it, good on you. Probably just an example of my own laziness and the attitude to money that means I have none.

I think you'll find that a Mk3 Astra switch if not the same is similar inside, much cheaper and easier to get.

But don't take my word for it, please check first.  These don't go wrong a lot in my experience unlike the later ones which are pants.

A1 (off Oil Sites Road) definitely worth a try, I bet they'll have one, Mark.

It is, but the connectors are different. You can solder it on.

If the switch isn't working (it doesn't 'click') the plastic thing on the button has worn, and just needs a 'shim' (ie, a rolled up piece of sweet wrapper) - it presses down a piece of fibre-y plastic onto a contact.

Billy, they got rid of their last Calibra the other week (off that rack that has had the same cars on for about 8 years).

Those exact switch are in loads of GM stuff and tons Japanese stuff. Can't he have a trip to the scrappers and go digging?

I was actually going to fix his original ones, IF Cavalier / Astra swithes are the same.

It's snapped a piece internally, which is like a bit of spring steel.

Thanks for the advice etc guys.
