Citroen GS shenanigans

You had to remove all that to change the ignition switch?

Do you work for Haynes? AICMFP

Fair play to you. I would have looked at it, thought fuck it and started hotwiring it.

That is a lot less dismantling than I was advised to do. Problem is that the dash is all one piece and envelopes the ignition switch. I was advised to more or less remove the dash and pull the whole assembly forward.

New Michelin XZX tyres have now arrived from Pneus online. Much cheaper than ordering from Longstone or Vintage tyres in UK.

I now officially have no money!

Bonjour.

Update time. The GS is now fully on the road and running reasonably well. Most of the issues mentioned before are now resolved so I can get on with the business of driving the bugger.

So far I have done around 170 miles in it since the beginning of the month. I don't take it out in the rain as these dissolve faster than 'suds and there is still some salt down. Drives well but for a 38 year old car that has been laid up most of its life. a few niggles still exist, but I'll get round to them as I go.

The front spheres are shot, so the BX has lent its until the GS ones arrive. Rears seem OK but will be changed also. Not bad as they are original.

Gear box is noisy. I changed the oil, helped a bit but still noisy. I put in some Forte gear treatment which seems to be slowly working. Apparently they go noisy if they are not run. Sounds like a Metrobus Voith when I lift off in top.

All in all I'm a happy chappy. Just need to rustproof it.

Ahoy there

The GS is no longer with me, but it will return! It is now away getting the bodywork sorted. Deal was that I stripped the car. I started that late September and the car went late November.

The guy doing it does classics in between bread 'n' butter stuff so it will take a bit of time. At present all dents have been removed and is in bare metal.

Some piccies of it getting undressed.

Much regret at looking at these pics of selling mine. And the CX.  Funny how I had two Citroens and after I met The Fuhrer there were none.  :-(

That is what mine is like when I went to see it

^^ the man is mad (and six cylinder also :D )

  Quite positively mad!

Excellent. Is that David H's V6 Activa?

It is indeed. Not many V6 conversions around. In France you could buy a V6 Activa off the shelf.

I must be lucky! I was sort of encouraged to buy the GS.
