Another 1980 Car Park

Dug this amazing photo out whilst composing a thread for RR! 1980 in Ossett, just down the road from me.

Check out the Violet on the far right and a collection of MK3 Cortinas on the left, nearly three in a row! One lucky learner driver has a blue Marina in the middle and I think that's a late Avenger Estate further up! Anyone fancy an ice cream?

Agreed. Will be interesting to see just how the proportion of road grot has changed.It would be quality if one of the original rides was spotted in the 'present' picture - that would easily make my week. Of course it's a bit much to ask. (however please try and arrange it )

LOL. If the building survives it'll be that painted stuff rather than felt now. GR8 4 not leakin. GR3 for being bastard dangerous slippy to stand on. Number of chuffing flat roofs I have nearly fell of...

It's within about 1.5 miles from me, but I'm not familiar with the place at all as the only time I go to Ossett is to get tyres fitted.It'd be fantastic if we got our entire "old car" fleets over there and as much other old stuff as possible, then took up every available space! Might not be able to recreate that shot, but we could have Ossett circa 1989 or something.Would have to get someone on the roof of the town hall, I'm sure I could arrange that as I'm a pretty big wheel over at the old council (this is a lie but they might let me up there if I imply that I'm going to jump off it).

Finally got round to getting into the centre this morning (and took the camera this time)

The original shot was taken from the roof of the Town Hall so I was never going to get a similiar shot. I did look daft balanced on the steps to the hall with camera in hand....

 

 

 

The parking is now more limited - you can only park in the main presinct now (unless disabled badge user). All the shops have changed however 'Carousel' in the first pic is still a Mini Mart of sorts and next to Dewhurst is still a bookies. The sign on the far right said 'seamore arcade' and up until about six months ago that sign was still there. They've put gates up now to stop the local chavs contrigating on an evening..

sorry not decent shots of cars - I was hoping to get one shite car in shot (I went in the wifes XR2 but couldn't park) so had to park by the bus station round't back.
