By the power* vested in my brother by the state of teh internets, the hot start issue has been resolved temporarily*.

Removing the temp sensor plug means it thinks "brrrr, glowplug time" and fires right up

A new sensor will be bought once i've actually had a look at the car to determine what needs doing;)

That may happen this weekend!

Noticed last night and this mornin that the car is surging a wee bit under light load..

Dunno if its a combo of cold weather plus temp sender disconnect..

I may plug sender back in and see what happens

Sensor was plugged back in.

Went to it this morning-gave it two heats as mildly chilly.

Click click whirrrrr.

Fuckin superb-e30 to the rescue!

Dont know if its got a drain that is flattening the battery or whit.

Will whip out battery and charge it overnight

New battery required. (assuming connections to it are good and it is charging ok)

Clock reset because voltage from battery fell below minimum for the clock to sustain.

(Due to the cold starting current being more than the tired battery can give)

I think you may be right..will need to see what i can rustle up as a replacement-dem derv batteries will likely coat 1/2 what the car cost..

If that thing has obd I'm in the process of getting vagcom for Ron, happy to have a crack at the puddlejumper once i suss it out.

Many thanks for your kind offer:)i believe it should be obd2 compliant being a '96, but dunno if the dinosaur spec lump has such capabilities

Would maybe be worth a shot if we can sort sommat out..

Mine was OBD2 compliant but said nothing of any interest, -voltage, heater plugs and something else I can't remember. Don't get your hopes up.

Yeah 1996 was the year they had to obd2 every car, but as staed by lacquer peel, this honey is pretty much all oldschool;)
