Negative Creep Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I do indeed have this fine specimen sitting on my drive, but insuring it when it's not in my name is proving to be an utter pain in the arse, with several companies telling me that no one will insure something that's not in my name. I have fouind Admiral will do it, but they won't mirror my NCD so it's not cheap. Might be something to consider if you do plan on taking ownership of it later on DVee8 1
Negative Creep Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I mean that the car isn't registered to me, not that I'm trying to get insurance in someone else's name Skut 1
Mr_Bo11ox Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Yeah I know, but why not get the V5 put in your name for a bit
Negative Creep Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I don't have the V5, would imagine Phil wants to keep it in his name and the next owner will have the same problem. Not that I'd condone or consider such things, but if someone got a quote saying the car will be put in their name, would it be checked at a later date?
Negative Creep Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Ok, so I've had this for a month now and aside from it occasionally claiming two bulbs have blown I've had no issues. Is there any plan for the next owner?
They_all_do_that_sir Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Why do insurance companies give a shit who it's registered to anyway? Registered keeper does not = owner
Pillock Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 They're normally OK if it's spouse (so you could quickly marry Phil) but not if they're no relation. The higher risk stems from the chance it's a pool car, and you drive it like it's not yours which in the wider world, means carelessly. And yes, owner != keeper, but the keeper is the person responsible for it and is the only thing they can check up on.
philibusmo Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 I am happy to claim I am in a long distance relationship with any of you, but only for insurance purposes; not willing to consumate. So who has it next? Taff, dollywobbler and loserone 3
Negative Creep Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Will arrange to get it to Red5 around the end of the month, although we are quite a way apart so how that will be done remains to be seen!
Negative Creep Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 possible, I can't see any reason mecnahically it wouldn't make the trip but I wouldn't fancy a long motorway journey as it isn't exactly the quietest or most refined car in the world. Oddly I have had several instances of people try to either race or bully me out the way it in as well, so it does feel somewhat vulnerable
phil_lihp Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 PM me if you do want help relaying it - might be able to assist in getting it further north. It's not a refined motorway cruiser but should be alright for the journey, Phil did drive it from Tiverton to Devil's Bridge for Shitefest 2014 but then again I seem to recall he also went to Glasgow in his Mk1 Fiesta 1.1 as well so perhaps that's not a good yardstick.
Negative Creep Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Bump - would anyone be interested in taking this on? I've had my fair share and to be honest I really do need the space as it's sitting there doing nothing. Only thing is the MOT has expired; I don't mind chipping in for some of it but to be honest I don't think it would be reasonable for me to pay the full whack then immediately give it to someone else
M'coli Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 What does it need do you reckon? I'll chip in, seeing as it's meant to come to me at some point.
JohnK Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Depending where it ends up for MOT, I'm willing to repair any failure items for parts cost and gratis labour to keep it going.
Alexg Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Reference insurance issue. I'd just tell them that you are the registered keeper. Firstly, they won't check. Secondly, if something happens and they do, just claim the V5 was posted off and the DVLA dip-shits must have lost it etc.
Negative Creep Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 That's what I did in the end, although had to take out a new policy which I need to cancel. Shouldn't need much, if anything for the m.o.t and I know Phil has loads of spares at his place in taunton. So grab yourself some free summer motoring!
philibusmo Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Has this gone anywhere yet? Assuming that this hasn't had half its suspension nicked or something, I am 87% sure that it will go straight through its MOT.
JohnK Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I thought there was a list of people in the running for this?
AlabamaShrimp Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I'd like it just don't have the money for the insurance and stuff
Negative Creep Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Red 5 is next on the list, to be honest I'm eager to move it on now and free up the space
M'coli Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 If Negative Creep can put it in for MOT, I'm happy to contribute to costs and if it takes the pressure off of Red5, willing to queue-jump stewardship (and thus it goes to its most northern posting and can thus make its way home via the next two). Keep me informed.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I don't mind looking after it for a bit and don't mind sorting the MOT out but I don't have time to travel to Devon to fetch it. If it can be magicked up the M5/M6 its an open offer though.
phil_lihp Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 My offer still stands to help get it to its next home if the date works and fuel/train costs are covered.
barefoot Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I think I'm on the list and am bang in the centre of the country. not certain what the order is tho'
Negative Creep Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Any further thoughts on this? To be honest I really need to move it on and appreciate the current situation isn't fair on Phil or in keeping with the spirit of the idea. If it helps anyone I can sort you out with free 1st class travel on any First Great Western train to come and get it? eddyramrod 1
