Rocket88 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 405 dizzler just appeared on Retrorides......£260
r.welfare Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I bought my multicoloured 405 wagon off that lad, he's nice enough but doesn't know a lot about the cars or engines TBH.
hotford00 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Sorry Pog have tried to contact him today but as of yet he's not got back to me, will keep you informed
r.welfare Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Yo Pog! If Wuvvum's Ashtray isn't floating your boat and you want a bit of ZX base model WAGON LOVE closer to home, check this out: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170281852874
pogweasel Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 Well subject to this one not being sold by some doolally nut-job like last sunday's effort, seems I have scored some cheap econowheels. Behold:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0309707319Nice.
Albert Ross Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Tidy Pog. I taught an old Girlfriend to drive in Burnham Beeches. DO you remember the "Whitbread Big Head Trophy Bitter" advert? It was filmed at The Stag in BB. Had a curly bar, popular with film crew from Pinewood.Nice buy, hope it comes off!
Milford Cubicle Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 That looks pretty tidy. Good job!Citroen ZXs do seem to attract a more considerate kind of owner compared to their sister car. Tidy older 306s are practically impossible to find.
seth Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Model: ZX ELATIONAnother one for the crap car names? Looks nice and red Pog!
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Loks a winner, I ought to be driving summert like that, 400+ miles a week in the Volvo 240 is heavy on the wallet, just think of the heaps of shite that could be bought with the difference in fuel money. Will this run on cooking oil/kero/molten rocks/jet fuel/rola cola/cat piss/Terrys chocolate oranges?
bigstraight6 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Looks a great buy! and tidy in the pics. All the examples I've piloted drove really well
Ross_K Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Behold:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0309707319Nice.Nice one. I had one just like that. Bizarre spec - seats with lumbar support, electric sunroof, central locking - and fucking wind-up windows. Why not finish it off with some electric windows Citroen? I used to get about 450 miles on a full tank, and that was with driving the shite out of it everywhere i went. Mine had a Lucas pump though, so no chip fat propulsion for me...
Richard Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I expect the price of chip fat will forever be index-linked to the price of diesel so Lucas pump is less of a disadvantage than it used to be.
Milford Cubicle Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Hey, mine is free.I don't think many people are buying new stuff anymore, but it is down to 70-odd pence per litre at some wholesalers.
Richard Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Do you just pour WVO straight into the tank?
Milford Cubicle Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Nah, it's not quite so simple.Leave it to settle until all the fats and water drop to the bottom, you will see an obvious layer of white crud at the bottom once the process is complete if you're settling in clear containers.Draw off the clear oil at the top of the drum, filter down to 1 micron and then you can pour it into the tank.
r.welfare Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Aha! Looks good.Bonus points if BOTH front fog lights still work.Budget on a new cambelt and tensioners if there's no evidence of them having been done in the last 36k; I'd also flush the cooling system too. But otherwise sit back in that comfy driver's chair, roll it HIRST STYLE, and enjoy the fuel savings. I caned my 405 to Bradford and back at 95mph all the way last week, and still got 44mpg.
retrogeezer Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 What he said ^^^^ZX's are great cars, nippy, great handling (rear wheels steer very slightly) and comfy.I had a 1.9 petrol Volcane back in 1996 - was great fun surprising people with it's speed in what looked like your grandads car.
hotford00 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Pog, that does look nice.I'm sorry for not getting back to you but my AA friend has still not got back to me, Oh well its his loss
