Does anyone here do car collection ?

Hello,

I'm currently trying to find a reasonable quote to pick something up from Belfast, but have had no luck with a guy i know from Shiply.

So was wondering if anyone here, would have the means to pick the car up from Belfast, and deliver it to Liverpool / Birkenhead docks (from here i can tow it).

Car does drive, but is not legal in regards to no Tax or MOT.
Willing to pay a reasonable sum, but don't have a fortune in the bank.

Thanks !

Scruff is on the mainland isnt he, I dont think this job will work out too well for him. You need to get in touch with that R9UKE chap, he's in NI and if he doesnt know a cheap car shifter I'll eat my flat cap

Not another Herald?

Seriously though, if it does drive and look ok can you insure it go over on the boat and drive back with a pre-booked MOT, or, do you know someone with trade plates.

For future ref if anyone needs tat crossing the Irish sea I do get a fair few jobs going over there, if you're a bit flexible with timings it could work well but I don't always use the same crossings which kinda buggers things up.

Surely you only need it moving from the address to the docks. Ferry company will take it unescorted from there, then you collect from docks, "book an MOT" and drive home. I reckon one of the NI shiters should be able to get that sorted.

Yes Chris,

I won't drive it home (if i can get it to the docks) but will tow / dolly it, as not had the best of luck this month, so don't want to risk an 'unkind' police officer taking it off me.

Mark, I meant only having it transported to Belfast docks. You can leave it there, and the ferry bods will load/unload at Liverpool/Birkenhead, from where you can tow. Only realised how vague my reply was after I read it back!

Depending on whereabouts in Belfast it is, it should* be a cheap job.

Borrow my great new a-frame and tow it behind the knob van because it has a tow bar.

Aye. That's how my Celica went over to Ireland. P&O do it, and I would imagine Norfolk Line would, seeing as they're essentially a freight boat. You're just sending the car as freight.
