Ok after a look over it its quite crusty, a few holes, Zeibarted from new which as usual has stopped fuck all, drivers door fucked, needs thermostat and the idles high as pete docherty which is a nightmare in traffic. Idle screws right out and the autochoke seems to be working. Any idea as to what else could be causing it? Im not really up to speed on these new fangled things called carbs.

If it's running too cool then the autochoke probably isn't turning off properly.

The choke also doesnt change when the car warms up in traffic, also seems a bit high to just be the choke, seems to be around 2krpmish( no rev counter)

Decided to have a poke around, wish i hadnt

Its seems that there was rot so they just slapped more underseal on it, apart from this and the 'sills by edam' its otherwise not that bad, oops forgot about the doors, bollocks, ok its a shed but it will be getting repaired bit by bit, it was supposed to be a winter daily, what could possibly go wrong?

Still laughing now! (I live 15 mins up the road from Skippers Lane...)

Love the Stanza, brings back loads of memories. Ma and Pa_W201 bought their first brand new car from Datsun/Nissan Cleveland, a Sunny 1.3 GS. At that time they were still fitting those pressed steel number plates with the riveted plastic letters, looked strange on a B reg! Their sister garage, Nissan Cleveland in Thornaby, oh the other hand were fitting the more expensive plastic plates, with the oversize recess-filling ones on the rear of Sunnys and Stanzas. Ma and pa had another two Nissans from them and three Rovers when they took Rover on and were renamed South Cleveland garages. They were always one of those nice, privately run old school dealerships that were actually nice to deal with.

Good luck with the Stanza, rot doesn't look too bad for a 30 odd year old Datsun that's lived on the Cleveland coast all it's life...

Managed to sort the idle problem, a small metal thingymajig had seized and was keeping the choke open, freed it off fine now.

Also fitted this fine piece of technology, disappointed it doesnt come with bluetooth and iplod connection though.

Also found one of these in the glovebox, mega shite,

Got a few more giffer trinkets to add in the coming days.

Class. A T11 Stanza is one of the few Datsuns I have never owned or even driven. I strongly suspect they are probably much better than they are given credit for. If a 3 door one ever turns up I'll be all over it.

Hey Ratdat, JonCedric weighed a nice Stanza in a few years ago, it was being stored and had a window smashed or something, he didn't have any time to fix it so off to the bridge it went...

To be fair, a few years ago you would have got more over the bridge than you would have sold just about any Stanza for!
