From the title I was expecting this to be a rundown of points for the countries in the Eurovision finals. A free 'like' for anyone who can put up some pictures of that milk maid with the big cahoonas from this years contest.

Welcome along. Do you have any cars?

Not yet - Carrick-on-Shannon is the nearest I've got to Donegal, but hope to get up that way at some point.

I have noticed that many 604s sold in the UK seem to go to Irish buyers.  I had an eye on Dean Hunters 604 turbo diesel but apparently that went to Ireland.

Interesting. Spent a couple of short stints in Dublin over the past couple of years and I thought that shite of any description was very much conspicuous by its absence.

However, the one, single old/interesting motor I do remember seeing is a 604 that i encountered in a petrol station on Navan Road.

Very little interesting chod over there - Most motors seem to be 2000+ era, with every corner scraped due to the culture of parking by touch.

Most of the big engined 90's chod died when the extortionate road tax rates came into force - Add the aggressive scrappage scheme, and pernickety NCT (MOT) inspectors, and it's not good news for old rammel.

I ran the old peasant Pug 205 for a couple of months around Dublin, and it stuck out like a sore thumb.

You just don't seem to see Sierra's / Mk3 Cav's / other common stuff from that time.

Don't get me wrong - There is definitely a classic car movement - But a lot would appear to be shiny garage jewellery, for sunny day use rather than daily snotters.

Sadly not - Sold to a friend of a friend last May, who promised to take care of it.

The MOT expired in December, and he was too skint to put it in for another, so elected to run it 'sans MOT'.

Got caught by Plod (or maybe VOSA) 6 months back, and that was that. Needed a few things doing to achieve an MOT, and he couldn't afford it, so scrapped the car.

Gutted, as I'd told him to offer it back to me if he was ever thinking of selling, and I only found out after the COD was issued. :-(

What a shame - was such a fun little car. Although I'm sure it did live a good few years longer than the odds thanks to this forum!
