Fiat 126

Went to look at that black 126 in Gloucester today. Has been rolled onto its side at one point - and has some rust underneath its horrible black spray can paint job.

STarting bid on Ebay is £500 and I can't help feel £850 buys you a decent one.

No T&T, tax ran out January. 20K on the clock, driver's seat cover is knackered, it needs two tyres (maybe three), no spare, and has a hole in the roof where a taxi light has been. The minor dents on the driver's door are the result of a rollover and would involve a new rear quarter, new wing and new door. Nothing major then!

Now, should I let the auction run - I doubt it will get a bid - and offer the £250 I have in mind for a spares car or should I just do it now? It's a car where the sum of the whole is worth less than the sum of the parts and I know that having bought a £190 dizzie that there's lots of saveable parts on it. Enough to keep my own one running for ages.

So, discuss - £250 now or the same day after auction has ended?

A taxi light in a 126?

it was used as an advert for a Manchester taxi firm. 1010 taxis.

Offer him 250 now or 200 when it fails to sell.....

Yes I remember seeing a handful of these painted in nasty colours parked nose to tail in a layby near Worsley on the A580 East Lancs Road advertising a taxi firm last year. I wondered if they had a bulk shipment of Maluchs from Poland at the time.

Nah. They seem to have used rhd bis ones.

I see the sense in stripping it although a complete side is 99 euros, door skin 50 euros and wings 35 euros each. The repair action for the lights is 12 euros. All plus postage of course. Economically it's a scrapper - not helped by the paint job that has ruined the panels.

You should just buy a Trabant. Just saying like.

Swmbo'd says I shouldn't but she sees the logic of a spares supply for the 126. Of course I should buy both.

Well that would be the entirely logical Autoshite way. Makes total sense to me.

Me too. Just others that don't see the logic.

IMO I wouldn't offer anything until the auction ends, the seller will probably see it as derisory.

Saved from being a multiple fiat 126 owner. Offered £250 but got a no, I'll do it up.
