Sexy French Mistress Comes to Town

Whilst there's nothing wrong with the Celica, it just didn't excite me and the air con was knackered. So I just journeyed to  darkest Bodmin (which was difficult as a major accident has shut the only road into town, and we were stuck behind a lorry having to reverse about a mile back up a  hill when he realised he couldn't fit through the detour) and bought this

2.2 petrol manual with 80k on the clock. It's always been on the bucket list as I think they're stunningly beautiful cars, and they'll never be as cheap as they are now so I figured why not? Drove nicely on the way back, albeit in silence as the stereo won't take my tape adaptor and couldn't find any stations. Only potential downside was the battery was flat when I got there, although putting a tester on said it just needed a charge. Did lead to a slightly interesting situation where I was driving round with no fuel and no tax and not wanting to stop for either in case it wouldn't start again. I've now got the battery on charge but need to leave for work in an hour, so the question is do I risk driving it there and getting stranded at 10pm tonight or wait another day?

Shock horror, another 2 litre coupe with battery issues, how much do you hate the seller now? ;)

Love the way these look, and they're just at the age where there's not too much elec-trickery on them to cause hassle. The V6 has tempted me on and of over the years and I may yet take the plunge, nice one.

Also. 'all alternators r shit'

These 90's Peugeots got it so right design wise. It went crashing downhill shortly afterwards of course.

I did know Peugeout did a 2.2 petrol. I had a slightly older 2.0 one a good few years ago and I found it a bit meh. I hope the 2.2 will be livelier?

These really are a handsome beast of a car.

Pugs of that age are such good looking cars, 406 coupe, 406 and any of the 306 especially the convertibles, that one looks mint apart from the lack of French electrical smoke in the loom.

Well I've taken it to work but managed to park near to the exit ramp in case I do need to try a bump start. Sorted.

Ok, I'm jealous, I admit it, I'm on the oc with an estate but I'd swap it for a coupe in a heartbeat. Sadly, both my wife & my bad back have promised screaming if I even think about it too much.

Err, it'll be mux. Expect floppy indicator stalk with a predilection for indicating left.

The battery wasn't flat at 10pm so that's something. Have noticed that the aftermarket hands free kit appears to be on all the time so that needs investigating. Initial impressions are positive; feels premium, very light clutch and steering, comfy although the engine seems somewhat diesel like, not willing to rev and plenty of low down torque

Argh no! Handsfree kit, holes everywhere!

At 168BHP I'd have expected it to be quite lively, MAF full of crap?

That's lovely . Didn't know anyone in bodmin that would have a car of that quality. It's all picassholes and mk3 mondeos there. ( offence not meant )
