1.6 pez, 60k miles, recent clutch and cambelt............anything else I should look for ?

Look for the back wheels splaying out like a broken dog. The arm bearings are almost a service item on those!

Rust and electrical problems.

Thanks,..........................looking at it tonight, will report back. Bizarre colour sceme, green with red interior........

We had the 1.9 JTD Multiplop - DMF is an issue with those, but I guess that doesn't apply on the 1.6 pezzer. The interior design is so funkeh and they feel so nice to drive that I find myself thinking of going back to one of these - but not a diesel. Beyond the DMF (non-issue for you) I think the rear brakes (shoes AND drums) were very worn we got ours - may be a weakness, but equally could have been down to the previous owner.

Seen and bought........600 snotters, just had 4 new tyres, new clutch, and cambelt done..No rot, nice unkerbed alloys. However.......there's always a "however", 80% of all the interior plastic surfaces seem to have had some sort of weird disease which has caused a strange sticky residue [no sniggering at the back] don't quite know what to try to use to clean them up......

...oh, and one other thing, the interior plastics all grow a fungus-y coating.

Sorry, was I too late with that?

by about 3 hours................still, never mind, i'm sure I can make it worse by the diligent application of various propriety ungents...........

If it's anything like the other post 2000 Fiats I've had:

Incurable misfire,

Refusal to start,

Incurable misfire,

Binding brakes,

Incurable misfire,

Broken heater resistor pack that is a nightmare to change,

Incurable misfire,

Head gasket failure,

Incurable misfire,

Broken electronic boot handle,

Incurable misfire,

Incurable misfire,

Incurable misfire.

We have had three Multiplas in an almost continuous run during the last 14 years. All ours have been diesels. Recurring issues have been front coil springs, hand brake cables (the casing splits letting in water which then rusts and more often freezes in the winter) and on the facelift version the tailgate electro switch. Mrs raggerminder won't have anything alse!

The first generation are better than the more recent ones in my opinion.

We love ours, it's a 1.9JTD and has had a few issues, but if you persevere and trawl google you can fix most things cheaply and easily.

The issue with rear brakes affects disc brake version, apparently the drum version is much more hardy.

Old Fiats are a purchase for life.

I was toying with the idea to buy a Multiplex, but the Junkwoman vetoed it.

For some inexplicable reason, she finds them ugly.

To punish her for her lack of taste, I bought her the Mitsubishite.

She loves it, believe it, or not.
