These wee 208s are actually not bad to drive, we had the 1.4 16v VTi 95bhp petrols a work for a while, much better than the 1.4 8v 207s we had before. Only gripes are the tiny steering wheel, the fact that even at its highest height the wheel is still too low and the speedo positioning is poor.

Beware though, the touchscreen iPad type thing in the middle of the dash is quite troublesome, some of ours came up with "GPS fault" warning messages which basically means touchscreen is fucked, they went to the Pug main dealer and sat for about 3 months (seriously) waiting on new screens as it was a common fault and they had about a dozen cars in that 1 dealership awaiting the part, which was on back order and the factory in France did even know when any were due in.

I'm confused. All I can see is horrible new cars in a horrible colour.

I've done this the other way. With my Focus being in the garage, and then sold work have provided me with various hire cars.

Yaris first. Approximate size of a shoe but has a reversing camera. Accelerator pedal appeared to do nothing unless in 1st gear. Nice stereo/trip computer though with graphs and ting.

Then 208. Touchscreen was awful, Bluetooth just sulked constantly, drank fuel, and took me a week to find cruise control since stalk is in a cretinous place.

Then onto a 1.2 60bhp brand new (130 miles) Polo which is my current whip. Awful noise, had to check it had oil in. Doesn't do hills. Nasty driving position. DAB though. Is now on 1700 miles.

Also had a Fiesta Titanium Ecoboost which was by far the best but clearly overspecced for a hire car.

yes the polos can get caught out on steep inclines in second- like speed bumps for instance

biggest stupidity of bluemotion is the 15mm lowered suspension- all 9 of ours had scuff marks (or worse) on the front spoiler!

it got to be a bit of a challenge as to where you could thump the ground next :-D
