I think I want a McVolvo -Help!

This summer I have a requirement for a 7 seater car for a couple of trips. These will be to Brittany, Wales and Normandy ( not one trip)

Plan A is to sell Mrs N's Gaylander and spend lots of money on a potential money-pit Disco 3.

Plan B is to spend £2/300 on a 7/900 estate or possibly a w124, but these are a bit Islington Trendy.

Can anyone foresee any problems with this plan?

Obviously a Montego,21 Savanna, 404,504,505 DS,CX or Saab 95 would be preferable , but considering the budget unlikely.

Got a V70 here, only a P reg, 2.5 20 valve. It's no beauty queen, but has tax until end July mot August 23rd, for a mere fraction of what you want to spend.

Buying a cheap old Volvo for such duties is the Autoshite way, certainly; but I happen to think it's just a really effective way too.  Plan totally approved.

I can claim Gaelic, that should be good enough!

Does it have the rear facing car sick seat?

Although there could be a massive flaw in my plan, just told family of my plan and they're not as enthusiastic as I'd hoped, I'll work on them a bit . Don't think describing a V70 as ' like Smiffys in Gavin and Stacey' was really selling it to them.

Mrs N had 10valve 850 saloon many years ago and an S80 20valve, she liked them both at the time so we'll see.

Pretty sure it hasn't got the 7 seat conversion. I haven't looked to be honest.

I have a whole 7 seat conversion kit here including all the bolts and seatbelts, which will bolt straight in to any 700/900 estate or V90.

Scraps going to have to go up an awful lot before that's worth £400.

I wouldn't underestimate the Opel 3-litre L6, especially when it comes to OMGMPG.

I'm guessing you're after a McBrick because you like the people you want to put in the back.  If it turns out that in actual fact you hate them, you could always get a Berlingo.

I wasn't aware Berlingos were capable of such cruelty. They looked so cheerful and disarming but turn out to be right bastards.

I'll never trust one again.

The engine is by far the least offensive part of this , imagine the happy* bride's face when this halfarsed re painted funeral limo with a back seat out of a Jag or something bodged into the luxurious* Municipal spec interior, turned up. No wonder someone let the ticket run out and dumped it in a field.

A future in motorsport awaits this, without doubt.

That 740 would fit the bill perfectly.

But I've solved my lack of seats in a different way, I'm off to Essex later this morning to collect a Rover 600 from AngryDicky . The Rover's 5 seats plus the 5 seats in either my Chrysler or Gaylander give me enough seats ,so no need for a 7 seat brick of Swedish loveliness.

Never mind Volvos, this is the one you require.
