Probably for chasing miscreants down the new fangled motorways; the Metroplitan Police  did it in far more style with 26 Daimler SP250s -

Cheshire, when the rest of the Countries Police cars were black they chose green.

Half-timbered building to match the Rover's half-timbered interior. Don't these cars look better on thick-wall crossplies and simple hubcaps..

Interesting interpretation of the alphabet in the dealer listings in the add above - perhaps it makes sense in cyrillic? Are they grouped by county? There is at least one omission  - Arncliffes of Hull who were mega dealers.

Talking of Hull note that all the Ladas in both adverts are registered in Hull (KH and RH)* except the UA on the estate which is a Leeds issue. Ladas were brought in through Hull docks and the PDI and distribution was done at Carnaby Industrial Estate near Bridlington by Satra (I think).

* should they be carrying East Yorkshire letters (BT and WF) issued at Beverley as they would, I guess, be registered at Carnaby (Bridlington)?

Looks like Bramhall Hall just behind it.

Forget the cars, it's the bus that's the best bit of the photo.

Looks like it was taken in the Liverpool area judging by that streetlight.
