hairnet Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 2001 civic 1.6 (i know i know) fine going oxon coming back was going down fish hill chasing a slow mong in a merc got to bottom where roundabout is and went to change down and squashy and graunch as went into gear - shit mesen and did next two roundabouts in 5th and hoped it wasnt gonna do a tasmanian devil when plucked up courage to touch it again (HELL NO JIMY SAVILL) it was fine did it twice again between there and home - the second time had to put foot under and pull pedal up apart from it being 1130 and pissing down i wasnt about to check fluid etc what else may be wrong fank yoo (praying for simple fix)
twosmoke300 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Check the fluid level ( little pot on the rover shape or combined with the brake fluid on the later ones) Then pull the rubber boot back on the slave cylinder , if its wet then a new one reqd.
hairnet Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 checked level and it needs a top up so will do that hopefully thats all it needs note to self when opening resovior - dont dropp rubber boot onto crossmember :\ (its persisting down)

Six-cylinder Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Symptoms sound identical to when the clutch slave failed on my MG ZT-T down to having to pull the pedal up with my foot. It was always alright when I started a journey and if I did not use it much it recovered between gear changes but sat in traffic the bite point sank lower and lower until I had to pull it back up with my foot. I had a new clutch slave and it is now perfect.
