I have about 15 engines (mostly diesel) and a dozen gearboxes to suit Land Rover between 1956 and 1985. Body panels, glass, electricals, radiators etc. I own three of them, one of which mostly works. I have maybe 4 spare rear axles and 3 fronts. That kind of thing. And tyres... oh my good God.. tyres. About 9 sets, on and off rims, new and old, of varying sizes......

I've spent about the last year clearing out all the crap I'd hoarded and just kept stuff that fits the 4 cars I plan to keep. It's still quite a lot of stuff though, enough to fill a racked out shed space about 20ft by 30ft.

When I kept buses I used to have one barn and two rented garages full of bus spares-engines, gearboxes, seats glass. It all added up. When a couple of garages closed at WMT I was in the lucky position to be able to get in and clear out the remaining obsolete spares and equipment. All gone now, I'm afraid but it's all been passed to those who continue with preservation so I'm happy I've made a difference.

I have a whole saab 9-5 for spares but dad is the real hoarder . loads and loads of bx bits everywhere

We have loads of transit parts. No shock as we also have loads of transits. The problem is, we now also have 3 cargos. Solution? Buy number 4 for bits. Newer bigger problem.....

I was trying to find a way of saying I only really had what I needed, which was a box of running spares for the Anglia, but I've had a mental tot-up and I've actually got quite a lot of stuff I don't need.

So I like to keep a spare engine and I've basically got my 1700cc one and the 1200cc one in the car at the moment, but I also acquired a 1500cc which I really need to move on. I've also got the leftovers from the 1200 build, but I'm only planning to keep the inlet/exhaust in case I switch it back to standard spec.

I've got some leftovers from some of my previous cars. I think I shifted all the Ford Pop stuff but I bet there are a few things hiding in there. There's a twin carb adapter for a flathead V8, a brand new Holley 94 which I'm not selling simply because they're so expensive and I'll probably use one in a hotrod project later. I've still got my 17" wires that came on my T, again, keeping those for a future hotrod because they're so difficult to find. There's probably more.

Yes. For my E36 I have a complete engine, a short engine, four heads, two sets of wings, two doors, some glass, wheels and tyres, shocks, a rack, various electrical bits, lights, three almost new rads, a gearbox, a new boxed LuK clutch, new handbrake cables and so on. For the 7 Series not so much - a rad, cyl head, an ECU, fuel pumps, some consumables. But it sees little use, less than 1000 miles a year. I'm gradually hoarding new old stock bits for both and I'm looking to find a decent E34 to run as my next smoker - preferably a 1988-1991 non catalyst version.

As ever, the name of the game is to run a car for as little as possible without neglecting it. I have it honed to near perfection.

My loft is stuffed with NOS E30 stuff as well as decent 2nd hand stuff that may be needed in future. It does include a lot of NLA trim parts.

It always coems in handy as recently I had to change the rear calipers and guess what - I had two new NOS in the loft 8)
