This weekend at Beamish Museum was the festival of transport

As we get free tickets through work and it is only 3 miles from my house we went along.

 Now i must worn that this is picture heavy and contains Scammell porn.

I like Beamish, been a while since I last went though.. If I ever win the lottery I'd like to build something similar but set in the mid eighties, primarily so I could fill the streets with Mk3 Escorts, Renault 11's and tatty looking Allegros.

The trolleybus lived in the PTE depot at the 'Chy' for many years, methinkks?

 

The huge ( but called 'little') steam hammer at the entrance used to hammer out 'stern posts' for the slipways, along the Tyne.

A stern post was the bit that joined the ships hull plating to the bit where the propellor poked out & the rudder hinged down, right behind the prop.

 

Mother of all 'forgings'..... people wearing a T-shirt proclaiming they did sills on a 1100 need not apply

 

 

......... nah, not at all proud of my areas shipbuilding history.... me!
