I'm not surprised by the XR3i wing, My mate bought one the same as that years ago on a C plate, It was even more rusty, The front scuttle was missing and the bonnet nearly dropped off from the hingles, It was only done 60k with one owner it the time.

He ended up breaking it it for parts, It was mean't to be a common problem with 1986-7ish Mk 4 Escorts due to Ford strikes and many of the untreated shells being left outside so I'm told.

 

And I'd hate to see the size of the spider that left this web!
