Motorcycle plastics

I have got hold of a a seat hump for my busa, however it is the wrong colour and needs painting.

Would it be safe to use paint stripper to get rid of the old paint? I am wary of damaging the plastic?

Opinions please.

You will just create more work using paint stripper. I have seen it done on side panels and it was not a pleasent sight.

depending on what stripper it is itll bubble the plastic

rub and prep or wrap :D

No point in stripping paint, the best surface to paint on is old paint.

That's OK if it doesn't get dark, or rain, or you don't want to carry a passenger....

A friend of mine buggered a side panel for his Guzzi with stripper, don't chance it! Rub,fill if need be then prime and paint is the way.

No, it isn't OK under any circumstances. That's why they invented the motorcar.

I once took a folding chair similar to the one pictured on a 5000 mile trip from Belgium all around the Mediterranean and back home, so I should know. Would do it again tomorrow, mind.

As said don't go near it with paint stripper, get out the wet and dry paper and prep it properly
