Old Man's in Sri Lanka for work at the moment, and every so often he sends me a pic of something he's seen. So far we've had:

Mk1 Mini, Riley Elf and van (project, I assume).

No idea what this is but it apparently has motorbike tyres.

Morris 8 I think.

Morris 8 Series E to be exact.  SL is a haven of old British chod they are particularly keen on Morris products - most of Colombo's taxi fleet was Minor at one time apparently.   Some residents are on some of the BMC forums I frequent and have amazing passion for their cars.

Hey, that Studebaker must have been a surprise!

The rest looks much like Eastern Asia. 'Like'

We've discussed these converted cultivator tractor things before.

China:

This is a different style I spotted in the far north-east of Thailand:

And here is someone else's picture of the most common road configuration:

Sometimes they just push old truck tyres (no rims) onto the paddle wheels so it can roll on the road! Classy.

The rice paddy cultivator in its raw state:

They can't be much faster than a donkey, but obviously they can carry more and spare the donkeys.

I've posted Sri Lankan spots on here before. I've been living over here for years now and you're right about the place being full of old BMC stuff.  There are Minors everywhere and Minis have a big following too.  Not a lot of Rovers, though.  That agricultural thing is a Land Master.  The things are everywhere - noisy and slow as fuck.  Look like a bugger to drive too as there are lots of levers that the driver is constantly fiddling about with.

Plenty of good stuff around here, including a lovely Fiat 131 which I always see when I don't have a camera...I've got more photos of SL crap that I'll have to whack on here.  By the way, whereabouts in SL is your old man?

Ghosty: those Minis look ace, I bet there's a metric shitload's worth of money in them back in Blighty.
