Transits on set

There is something you often see on film sets.

The tail pipes often have white cold start steam pouring from them on cars, vans ect when they you are supposed to believe they had just been driven miles or are in the middle of a high speed chase.

Yeah, cheers for banging these up Fred, Really interesting! So basically if I see a transit on telly, you're quite likely to have been stood somewhere behind the camera?

Gr12 pictures, I have the horn for the Sierra police car

I was very slightly disappointed by that. I was sent a pic of a genuine ex Met car the company had been given when it retired. What actually arrived was a civvy car, painted white over the badges (laser?) and the blue light bolted directly through the roof/headlining, with the cable going to a loose battery in the back....

only a real transit. Plenty of people do the late stuff, even for free!

The camera pans down and past the van, it's the opening shot so don't blink or you will miss it!

A while ago I was at a TopMan shoot with this LWB county beast, oooo! She's not mine, but the owner was good enough to bring her all the way from Devon.

This is a crimewatch cold case. The main vehicle is the Mk2 cortina in the middle (as driven by my OH Gary!). The Mk1 was only set dressing so blink and you will miss it!

That's disappointing really, the pictures make it look quite nice

speaking of cop cars, dusing the Crimewatch shoot (set in about 72) we were aware of a Mk2 fez hooing about the side streets at the end of the road. Suddenly a panda car appeared, and proceeded (in a Westerly direction, towards us) to chase it, eventually pulling the fez up right in shot. WTF??? Shortly after that, a bleedin Mk6 transit arrived to cart the (diequalified) driver off, leaving the fez abandoned in the middle of the location. Just as we were contemplating winching it outta shot, the plod came back and took it away. Just another day at the office.....
