About 135 nicka for the tax I think.  [EDIT: I  R RONG, it's less, see next post]  Wd check disc but it has faded and the rate has gone up a bit since last October, IIRC.  Nearest railway staish is Princes Risborough on the Chiltern Line, with connections to Birmingham and London..  Also near the Oxford-London coach stop at Lewknor.

The Puggatax is £126.50 for six months.  For twelve months of le motorisme du shed you would pay £230.

Oh Bum

Just rang the insurers and it's going to be too pricey now I've got no NCB so I'm oot

It's not Ferrari money but it would be more sensible to spend it on getting one of the current heaps mended properly by someone else rather than adding more old car stress.  If it was one year older the sums would have been in it's favour.

That would be an ideal stablemate for my CTi, same colour, wheels etc.

I'm debating what to do with the 306 'Gallic rat look' as it needs a wheel bearing, shockers and a cambelt.. Which will cost far more than what I paid for it.

GRUMPY ALERT GRUMPY ALERT GRUMPY ALERT GRUMPY ALERT

Defcon:  Mildly Tetchy.

Cheers, all, but, if it isn't too grumpy, may I please ask for a brief moratorium on "I would really, really, really like to buy that but I'm not going to buy it" posts.  Yeah cheers yeah.

The car is what it is.  It is where it is.  Tax costs what it costs  (£126 and something).   Insurance - you can either get reasonable insurance or you can't.  Choices for the aspiring 90s French diesel motorist.  (1)  Buy the car.  (2)  Don't buy the car.     Thanks, that is, er, it.

PS:  talking of Grumpy, did you know that six out of seven dwarves aren't Happy?

Yeh, however the posts are keeping it at the top of the board for people to see................

There is that, but it seems likely that anyone who wants to see the thread has probably seen it by now, and so I shall gracefully accept that no one here is going to buy the car and  let the thread dwindle.  I shall steel myself for Scumtree in a little while.

I could, I suppose, offer some more photies of my missus for a more cheerful effect, but that's enough high mileage old rides for one day.

Let's just make this a whole lot easier between us, then. Sell me your CTi (cheaply, of course) then you can buy the 205 diesel.

Arse!  Tried to flog very nifty Pug 205 Deeze.   No takers.  Gave up trying.  Parked car under cover in place off to side of sloping drive that should have been safe.

Delivery van reversing down drive clouted it into a wall.  Mega dents on each rear wing. Three vans called that day, each company denies it was their guy.     No witnesses.

Sweet little car survives from 1995 without a scratch or dent.  Then gets effectively written off in one careless moment.

Anyone want to have it for 100 quid?  Poss worth it for the engine, seats, radio, wheels and tyres?  It is still driveable and has an MoT until October but isn't taxed.

Photos below show it when it was spiffy  (no, it wasn't parked there when hit), and the dents.    They are worse than they look in the pics.

Real shame.  Sorry to see it.

I suggest a more detailed description.  MOT, tax, mechanical condition, any faults.  I don't want it because I just can't, but it really does look very good and IMHO quite repairable.  205s are nice cars.

I think if you take your time (if you can of course) and advertise it widely, gumtree and all the other free places, someone would have that perhaps for a bit more.

I have given a detailed description already on a long running thread thread, and advertised the car at 500 before it was biffed.  This is now a 100 quid car that was in pretty fine nick and completely usable but is now basically a scrapper because it has two mahoosive dings.  I offer it here to anyone who wants 100 quid motoring. or wants to take it to bits.  The 1.6 GTi wheels and nearly new tyres alone could sell on eBay.  I CBA with eBay.

126.50 for six months tax.

Gutting!

Was any paint deposited by the van? With make/model/colour of the van, you could maybe work out who did it.

Now for the Dimma conversion...

Car now battered by slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.  New buy it for a oner thread up and running.

Car had a thick cover on, no paint deposited, but guess what:  looks like van was probably.... white or silver.  Yeah, you go get 'em, Mr Holmes.   No proof of which one did it.   I think not Amazon as their regular guy around here has a clue and he came by again yesterday seeming very non sheepish and his usual cheery self.  Good actor?  Maybe.  Good driver?  I have seen him drive and say yes he is.  My guess is Ocado as their drivers (different one every time) appear mostly clue free and often can't get up the drive.  There was also a courier delivery.

Spend weeks on phone to call centres or emailing customer non response robots?   Yes, I could do that, or I could be self employed, like wot I are, and get on with life.

This thread is the thread of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

Do you want me to lock this thread?. We don't really need two threads running for the same for sale advert.

Just tried to get a classic car insurance quote on it, but it doesn't seem to qualify. anyone any idea where i could get cheap classic insurance on it?

Posted

Oh someone's merged it, I didn't even know how to do that! Sorry to see the mess it's in, whoevers done that must also have a damaged van.

South Oxon, 3 mins from J5 and J6 M40.

The car is from 1995 not 1996 as prev stated in error.  It will be 19 years old in about August 2014 if it survives that long.

Seems a shame to break it, bit of hammer work would see it back on the road. Can't get classic insurance on it anywhere otherwise I'd snap your hand off.

Try Chaucer Direct (non classic).   Shop around.

This is a 58 BHP diesel car worth approx 100 quid.   I express some surprise that it would cost anyone who is not the Skullcracker and/or does not live in South Central LA more than 20p to insure.    Tell the insurance person that the car hasn't got a turbo. You can get away with that because the car hasn't got a turbo.  Don't look on the internet, peeps, ring someone up!

God knows why its so expensive, 44 years old, 8 years no claims on another vehicle, no points, off road storage. Quotes for the renault 18 I just missed out on were £105, Pugs coming in at £479! Got to go work now, but if it hasn;t been snapped up I'll try elsewhere tomorrow.
