You're not mad Jon, needs must: I must admit to being envious of your ownership of these fantastic cars, and if I'd had more room and time or been brave enough to risk divorce I'd have had both this and the GS - but as it is, I'm struggling to find time to do owt with the Cavalier and the Imp, any car time I have is taken up with keeping the wife's Pug 106 and my 205 roadworthy - like the C4, a tool to allow me to get from A to B.

GLWTS, and do tell us about the other one...

I'm squared to tell you but it's fairly obvious.

People on here clearly think I've lost it. Far from it. If the cars I need \ want to keep don't work properly, what's the point of having a field of broken crap?

There are two approaches to the Autoshite "game"...

One is to have 15 old shitters in various states of disrepair in your garden/driveway/lockups. Some may be taxed and tested but none of them are actually working so you have to ride a pushbike or catch the bus to get to work every day. This is the textbook Autoshite approach. Some people manage it brilliantly, but for most of us it's bound to take its toll on our interpersonal relationships, finances and sanity.

The more rational approach, which you describe above, is to have a much smaller fleet of well-maintained cars that you can enjoy driving every day. I reckon that's a far better way to go about things, which is why I've also slimmed down my collection* recently.

GS sale went smoothly then? I was on eBay hunting for tat thread material and saw the auction about to end.

Oh dear! This is where I'm heading at the moment. 10 old shitters and counting.

Yes it did. Buyer came from Grimbsy, got stuck because Walton Hall Avenue closed, gave me an extra £100 on top of the £350 purchase price for the rear wings and valance then trailered it away.

Can't say I ever want much to do with the old Citroen crowd again, though. Trying to sell that car severely tested my patience.

I'm also free of one lock up now, leaving me £45 / month better off.

Ah, good. I feel I've been extraordinarily lucky selling cars - I've only sold four, but they all sold without issue to buyers who bought unseen and just turned up with the cash and then drove away.

The bloke who eventually bought it was nice enough. The other five who tried - well, there aren't enough available expletives.

Fuck me. They must have been bad!

Who thinks you've lost it?

Stop beating yourself up Jon, tis only metal.

Plenty more (ferrous) fish  in the sea.

It is surprisingly liberating when all non-working cars are gone.

The realisation only kicks in after a while, though.

I've had a massive 'rationalisation' of my motors over the last year resulting in my selling 18 cars. I still have another 3 or 4 to go. It's be hard parting with some really prized possessions but it's also been liberating. Now I only have 3 projects to do which is manageable plus it's given me the funds to buy myself a really top drawer piece of megashite (more on this soon!).

As Nigel says, there's plenty more old crocks out there!
